Question about Tomtom Go Plus GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Our address takes people farther down our road.

When people put our address in GPS's, many have told us it takes them farther down our road to our neighbors. We live and have a business here and I would like to correct it???

Our road is old, not new and it has been various people not one person and proably not all teh same systems. We are very rural however. How do you know this has been taken care of? It happens every so often and again today.

Well this would have to do with having the update there GPS systems its not the unit itself.. You want to correct something that is already bing taken care of but its a slow proccess there are new streets going up everyday so stay tuned and make sure you update you're Tom-Tom via internet not catch the GPS update Hope this helps..

Whenever i put in the address from which i am leaving to go to a destination it wont do anything and also in the car it wont show me the road that i am on

When the GPS device starts up ( when you power it on ), it will take several seconds, up to a couple of minutes to locate the satellites, before it will show where you are (on the road / map). So, you simply have to enter the destination address, to get directions from where you are, to the destination.
It is easier for the GPS device to locate the satellites if the GPS / you are not under (some) cover, e.g. indoor garage, under ground parking, under trees, etc. Some times you'll just have to wait a little longer. [But you can enter the destination addresses even before it locates your position ]

Hi, We live down a private road. For the past 2

You can contact garmin and ask for a map correction but unfortunatly until they update it AND the people have that updated map on their GPS
it will continue. best bet but a dead end sign at the front of the drive way.

Inproper directions

Try updating your TomTom ONE unit with the latest mapping software on TomTom website for $69.95.
http://www.tomtom.com/products/maps/select.php?D=29&M=480
Most PND units these days are very accurate but they are not 100% accurate so if you find an issue with the direction or location of an address, try reporting it to TA who is also owned by TomTom.

If you are not happy with your TomTom unit, consider testing a differnt model or brand such as Garmin or Magellan to see if the direction is any better. Garmin and Magellan both use NavTeq mapping software and most consumers are happy with their mapping software.

If you are in a pinch, you can rent a GPS from GPS4Rent.com and receive a unit with the latest software available to enusre you that you will have a sucessful trip without getting lost to much.

You can buy a higher end PND product such as a Garmin nuvi 255-265, TomTom 920-930 or Magellan 1470 or a Maestro 4700 from Autonavdirect.com if you are not happy with your TomTom ONE.

Good Luck

My Nextar X3-01 sometimes has misses such as: one area near my home always indicates off road, also on a recent trip i found my unit directed me off road for no apparant reason, also the unit will not...

these are just the common errors in the programmed maps stored inside the unit, I have had a GPS for years and have had this happen many times to my suregrin, sent down dirt roads, routed around in circles and so on.

If I put a street name in, like Ave F or a rural address, like FM 345, my gps says "address not found". Any help would be appreciated.

Some GPS require the letter of the street first. Also most roads, even those with route numbers have a name.

GPS Accuracy

I had a similar problem. It was that the street addressing was wrong. Our street for example only physically goes to 199. But the software shows it goes to 299. This offsets all the address on the street, the farther I go the worse it gets!
