I have a Mitsubishi 60inch 60737 replaced the bulb last it keeps cutting off, cleaned the filter before.someone said to reset bulb timer, how do I reset it.

The Lamp timer will not cause it to shut down. The timer should have been reset when you first turned the TV on after replacing the bulb. Make sure your bulb is an Osram brand bulb. If not, then you do not want to use it as it may not be very good.

My projection tv powered off last night on its own and now it won't power on, instead the power led blinks 4 times every couple seconds. Help please!! 60p8342 is the model number.

First thing to do is check the manual about the blinking LEDs in the troubleshooting section.
There is about a 90% chance you need a new projection bulb. They only last a few years before they fail. The good news is that it's easy to replace and anyone with half a brain and maybe a screw driver can replace one. Just do a Google search for projection bulbs for your model number. Again consult the manual about the blinking LEDs to make sure that's your problem before you buy anything.

The other option is that you have a blown capacitor. It's not an easy fix. If you can't do it yourself and it's not under warranty then it's time for a new TV. If you know someone who can solder well then you can also ask them nicely.

Either way, unplug the TV (Not just turn it off) for at least a half hour or more and try again. You might get lucky even if it's temporary.

How do I know if I need a new lamp?

Yes, if you have not replaced the lamp since you purchased this TV.
Lamps usually last about 6000 hours.
I've seen lamps last much longer than 6000Hrs, it all depends on the usage.
Remove the lamp from the TV and do a visual inspection, see if there's a crack on the glass or the bulb.
If the TV is few years old then the Lamp may be bad.

Buy original Lamp: 800 638-3328

DO NOT BUY the cheap lamp from ebay

Good luck to you.

Clean bulbs on a D56W136D

Hello. Here are the steps to a perfect cleaning job:
  1. Power down TV and unplug all cables attached to back of TV, including TV power cable. You never want to risk touching components inside the TV that could be hot, including a rear-projection bulb.
  2. 2 Unscrew and remove back cover of TV. Have someone help you if the TV is big or back cover is heavy. Most TVs will unscrew easily, but refer to your TV owners manual for specific instructions.
  3. 3 Locate and unscrew bulbs housing unit. Your owners manual can again be used to find specific instructions on how to properly unscrew bulbs housing unit.
  4. 4 Clean bulb with soft cloth and cotton swabs. Never let your bare hand touch the bulb. The oils on your hands can cause the bulbs to deteriorate prematurely. Be gentle with the cotton swabs to avoid breaking or cracking anything.
  5. 5 Reattach bulbs housing unit.
  6. 6 Reattach the back cover and have someone help you again if you needed help taking the back cover off.
  7. 7 Attach all media devices and power cords.
  8. 8 Power on the TV and begin watching.

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

How long do bulbs generally last?

Generally, a DLP bulb lasts about 8,000 hours (if a TV is on 10 hours a day, every day, the bulb will last about two years). A bulb can last longer if it's used less frequently. Typically, a bulb in a DLP TV for household use should last at least three to four years before it starts to flicker and needs to be replaced.

Sony KDF50E2000 lcd tv has burned out it's second bulb. Replacement bulb was OSRAM brand. It only lasted 10 months, now it won't come on. Should I be looking at the ballast or did I just get a poor...

Hi,Osram lamps average around 3000-4000 hrs.Normally 1 -1 1/2 yr.I do think the lamp went out.The ballast is a possibility, when it's going bad it will make clicking noises or attempts to light the bulb.I recommend to get the Original Philips lamp for they average 6000-8000 hrs 3-4 yrs.

Keeps turning off

FIRST all projection TV's have bulbs.
Some have filters either on the bulb cage or on the outside of tv or both. When the bulb gets too hot it will protect itself by shutting off - clean and make sure they have good airflow.

Unless your D/s buddy has infared power not heard of - it's probably not him.
