If you take a 9v battery, and touch it to the speaker wires, you can find out which wire goes to which speaker, OR you need only 3 wires ( memory, power, ground) to power the radio, then you should be able to figure out which are the speakers, or attach a speaker, and use fader and balance to figure out which channell that is on the radio

I understand that '86 4Runners were built on a Toyota pickup chassis. What model pickup was that? I'm looking for a trailer hitch, but catalogs don't list the '86 4Runners. They start at '87s. So I...

If what you say is true. The only pickup it could possibly be is the Toyota Pickup. CURT offers the 13086 hitch for the 84-95 light pickups. If there is a lot of rust, this is going to be rather difficult as the bolts mounting the bumper will more than likely need to be cut. I can't find any information confirming fitment, but i'm sure this is your best bet. Custom fabrication would be your only other option.

try putting a female connector on the end of a length of heavy gauge wire, slide the connector onto the male one on the side of the starter (after pulling off the one already attached) and then touch the other end to the positive terminal on your battery. make sure it's out of gear. the starter will engage whether or not the truck is on. if it doesn't, your starter's dust. if it does you simply need to replace the connector that attaches to the starter (most likely), replace or bypass the button-thing behind your clutch pedal that needs to be depressed for starting (less likely), or you have some kind of ignition switch problem (unlikely because everything else works when you turn the key on.).

if you look in the dash where the clock goes, you will find the 4 pin plug for the clock taped off to the side with blue tape- they all had wiring for the clock, regardless of wether or not they were actually equipped with them.
