Hi Mark and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

Touch the front of the unit where the doors close and feel if it is very very warm to the touch. If it is very warm to the touch... here are the prime suspects:
1. condenser coils covered in lint
2. condenser fan not running or running slow.

An easy way to determine if there is a condenser fan or coil fan problem is to simply direct a floor fan at the base if the refrigerator. If it cools down substantially in an hour.... there is a problem with the coils being clogged or the condenser fan not running. If that makes no difference... before opening the back of the unit... inspect the back wall of the freezer compartment for any signs of ice build up. If you see ice-build up.... unplug the unit.. remove freezer contents and direct that fan into the freezer compartment for just over 2 hours. Then return the unit to normal service.... If the temps come down to normal... for 2 - 3 days then start creeping up again... you have an automatic defrosting problem.

Forgot to mention... make sure the evaporator fan is running at full speed.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Hi there

Maybe nothing

1. The fan in the freezer compartment runs full time, this could be the motor noise you hear

If the temperatures are OK then it can not be the compressor that is running all the time or the freezer would go really low in temperature.

You need to pull out the unit and confirm that it is the compressor that is in fact running all the time, they normally run around 12 to 16 hours each day

2. The other unlikely possibility is if the compressor is running full time then there may be a fault with the compressor, busted suction valve or the system could be low on gas.

I have samsung side by side. The fan behind the evaporator cover was making a grating noise and now doesn't seem to run and fridege not so cold. Took cover off and evaporator and fan completely iced up....

IT means that you have not fully defrosted the fridge in sometime.(should be done every 6 months max).switch it off,let it fully defrost for 12 hours, then restart, should work fine(i hope).

Top section of freezer dept; food not frozen

Your freezer fan is not running. Defrost for 12 hours then switch on again. Normally that will be the solution. If it still does not cool correctly after that, call a technician as equiptment will be needed to sourse the fault.

Model 106.9630280 The freezer is working but

you probably have a bad air circulation fan or a restriction in the ductwork between the freezer and the refrigerator that the circulation fan supplies the cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator compartment. you should be able to hear the circulation fan motor running when the unit is in normal operation mode. the only time the fan will not be running is when the unit is in defrost mode which occurs once every six to eight hours depending on the defrost timer in your unit.

Not blowing cold air

unplugged the unit, kept the doors closed about 10 to 12 hours plugged back in and in about 2 hours started blowing cold air into freezer another 4 hours was blowing cold air into refrigerator and continuily got back to the themostat settings, about 1 day. no food was lost because the doors were closed still keeping it cold. i think the fan in the freezer was frozen with ice,but could access it, not the main fan in the back the unit by the compressor, that was running fine. so basically i defrosted the freezer fan by unplugging it. this is the 2nd time in 4 years ive done this, well it beats spending 1000-1500 dollars to replace it TRY IT I HOPE IT WORKS FOR YOU BEFORE YOU CALL FOR SERVICE,dave

Compressor & Evap. Fan both work for 12 hours then evap stops

I believe that because defrost is done by the mother control board this is why this is happening the part of the board that controls defrost is malfunctioning and the only way to resolve the problem is to replace the mother board part number WR55X10656 You can find the replacement board at these places below. Long run time between defrost cycles

You have a broken defrost part. Either the heater, t-stat or timer. The longer you let it go without repairing it, the more parts is take out.
