Question about Magellan eXplorist XL GPS Receiver
HI, i hate to be the bearer of bad news but, this Magellan is fried. this circuit board design what we call in the industry, micro cluster. this is a bad design because, if it is hit with a tremendous amount of unstable or inappropriate current, it will firy the entire board. the micro caps are not the issue here. the entire board(mother) is an integrated design and, it will need to be replaced at this time. all of the integrated board functions are fried.
You have two options. you can contact Magellan for a repair ticket and an directions to a local or nearby repair depot or, you can cut your loss and purchase a new unit. Unfortunately, there is no quick fix here. the Voltage spike has destroyed the entire board.
