-   My camera was dropped(?) or exposed to cold(?) and will not turn on at all. Camera store reccomended that I get a new battery, and felt that was the problem. I got a new battery, charged it, and there is still no power to the camera. I removed the smaller 3v, CF, etc. and it has had no effect.-   Guest

If your camera is less than a year old then you should try
sending it in to Canon for repair. If the camera is more than a year
old you will have to take care of the repair yourself. If you take the
camera to a 'camera shop' they will tell you its $200 to do the repair,
but I know a place that will do it for MUCH cheaper Google:
Darntoothysam com.
The fuse on the PCB (Printed Circuit Board)
has most likely blown to save the board from being shorted and ruined.
All you need to do is replace the fuse and you should be good to go! If
you are skilled with fixing things and pay close attention to detail
you can do it yourself.
If you don't want to do it, I know of a
digital camera repair shop that can help you out. (Google:
Darntoothysam) I don't think we have a no-power repair listed in the
store, but we can get it added for you, no problem. We have a certified
Canon, Nikon and Fuji tech do this repair for us, he has repaired
hundreds of cameras for us over the past 5 years and does a great job.
If we can help with the repair, please let us know. Good luck from Darntoothysam com
This happened to me today. The lens drive sounded weird - like off gear. Then it froze and wouldn't turn off without taking out the batteries. Then, it would turn on. Now it's ok. What I did was remove the cf card, lens, regular battery, and the little battery that is also in the battery compartment. I let it all sit while I did other things. When I put it all back together it turned on and I had to set the date but everything worked fine.
I have bring my camera to an reparateur in my country.
They find an serieus problem whit whater corrosion on the main print.
It look likes correct because i have 9 monds ago some water on my camera body.

Now i have already an new EOS 400D body.
Afther the case whit the insurance company i shal try to open the camera and lokate the fuse.

Hi!
I got a Canon rebel XT.
For a month a go I droped it in water together with
my Canon Ultrasonic zoom lens (75-300) in fresh water....
I took out the memory card and the
battery.
I dried it with a hair dryer every where for a week
1-2 hours a day.. and let it stand and dry in the sun for another
week.
Then I tried to turn on the camera.. the automatic
lens did not work.. so I changen to my 18-55 mm lens and it worked perfect... so
far so good.
But after one days use I took out the pictures from
the memo card.. and took out the battery to charge it again.. now is the camera
totally dead.
OI think its just a fuse in the camera... and the
lens witch is gone.
How much can it cost to repere it if I send it to
you.. is it worth repering? and the lens.. is it worth to do a inner cleaning
and repere it?
