Question about RCA TruFlat 27F520T 27" TV

1 Answer

Picture lasts only a second

For some reason, we lost the picture on our TV. It is set on Channel 3 for our satellite and if I go from 3 to 4, then back to 3, it will only come on for 1 second, then it's a blue screen.

Any ideas, or is it screwed.

Have a used Emerson tc1375a hooked up to cable only gets channel 3 and 4 picture is great. Does it need to be reset or what can I do

Usually a TV must be set to either channel 3 or 4 to receive a TV service provider such as cable or Direct TV. The service provider now controls your channels and broadcasts on either channel 3 or 4. You choose channels from what ever equipment they gave you which is usually not the remote that came with your set. You may need to check the way you are set up. If you are using an antenna go into the menu on the TV and make sure it is set to antennae not cable. This may also be the problem. Good luck.

Is it all channels? Did you accidentally change your TV channel instead of your cable or satellite channel? Make sure it is on channel 3 or 4.

Can i hook up an old tube type tv to a new high satellite dish? i dont care if i get high def picture just want a regular picture.

Yes there is an option for ouptuting 480i signal from most hd receivers. You will need to check the specifics for the satellite dish receiver as to the channel that the TV should be on as well as how to set it to the resolution that you need. (I know some Dish receivers need channel 60 for the SD TV (coax (RF) connection) when it is TV 2 but channel 3 or 4 for TV 1.) Also check your TV so that you can use the best possible input available.

However, you may not be able to read the closed captions unless you enable them on the receiver. (Apparently, the encoding has changed.)

The manuals for some satellite company receivers are on their website. For example, Dish network manuals are here: . Their manual for the Solo VIP 211k describes connecting the receiver to a SD TV on page 91 (page 97 in the PDF version).

I hope this helps.

(I'm not aware of any satellite system that doesn't use a set-top box. If you do not have a receiver, then the above does not apply and you may not be able to get a signal.)

My Zenith C32V28 television does not display the top and bottom of the picture. I phoned Zenith tech support who told me that it was the satellite signal. I called the satellite provider who advised me it...

This is applicable to Bell Television Services (Canada)
I solved the problem myself after two calls to both Zenith and Bell Television satellite service. On the bottom left of the Bell remote control there is a * (STAR BUTTON). Press this * button and within two seconds you must press the channel change button up or down. This will do two things. One; it changes the channel; and also changes the ratio of the satellite signal. There are three satellite signal ratio settings. Try this when you are tuned to a TV channel such as BNN (Canada) (Business News) or The American channel which has a stock ticker usually displayed along the bottom of the TV screen. Select the ratio (setting) that allows the stock ticker to be displayed......hope this helps.........Jim McP

TV won't "talk" with satellite cable

Try to see if you have 5volts for your EEPROM. If the voltage is normal try to replace your EEPROM or try to reprogram it. Your EEPROM is corrupted so that's why it will not store data.

Although you did not mention what the make, model number or type of TV it is, I will assume that you are using a cable or satellite box, and the most common reason for what you are seeing is the TV is on the wrong channel. Using the TV's remote, make sure the TV is on channel 3. Most of the time that is all you need to do.

The PIP puts a smaller picture on your main picture. Usually, the smaller picture is generated by a second source, such as a VCR. The VCR must be connected to the main cable signal and connected to the TV through the red, white, yellow RCA jacks. The VCR picks the smaller picture whilt the tuner in the TV picks the main pucture. The PIP circuits digitally add the smaller picture to the larger picture. The PIP cannot be used to veiw 2 different channels at once on satellite systems because the satellite receiver sends only one channel to the set at a time.

Channels 3 and 4 no longer support VCR playback.

Your tuner is most likely the trouble with your TV set. These are soldered into place and can be replaced a san assembly. These tuners can be rebuilt at Good Luck
