A "System Restore" will erase the entire disk and make the machine appear as it was when you first purchased it. Any data or programs that have been installed since purchase will be gone.

You have not supplied enough information. The operating system you are using is essential information! For windows XP go to system restore and use a restore date that is before you experienced problems. Restore your system at that point, be sure that you save any files that may have been changed before the restore, Your computer will return to normal to normal operation.

Windows Recovery Virus has made all of my files hidden and I am having a hard time accessing ANY of my commands even safe mode at this point. I just need a little assistance on what I can do to restore...

use this data recovery program to scan your computer and then recover your files.

This software scans all storage space on computer and then join pieces together to recover files. So even virus affected your file table, and put virus to boot sector, the program can still be used to recover your files.

Restore to factory settings? or a System Restore?

For factory restore (All Data wil be Lost), tab the f11 key while booting the computer and enter PC recovery. Go to Advance options and Select the option of "restoring the system back to factory settings". in case u do not go to PC recovery after multilple attempts, there is no partition. Use Recovery cds.

System Resore : All programs > Accessories > System Tools > System restore. Select a date and Follow instructions(No Data Loss)

Recover lost calendar events on a Palm z22

Hi suzbt:
JOY's answer, that you try to do a SYSTEM RESTORE on your Computer to get the data back is a really good one, that I did not think of! All manual instructions, and USER instructions on doing a SYNC with the Palm Z22, REPEAT : 1/ Always have a back up of the hard data 2/ Always check all transferred DATA on a SYNC, "Even if it states 'transfer Successful'", 3/ Even, if necessary, write down the data, ...
There are a few software programs to identify FILE problems on the Z22, listed on my web page:

http://kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html

and ways to recover corrupt data, but these are getting more and more difficult to find and use...

User comments on the SYNC indicate that any SYNC is a risky procedure, and backups and re-checking all data is necessary at all times.

I hope that the information on my web site comes in useful in keeping the Palm Z22 up and running!

good luck

What caused you to require a restart of the computer? Some programs, virus', use AIM and MSN ss their transport for accessing your personal information and getting your cc info. Check the machine for any changes to the startup files. Run System Restore and choose a restore point that is before this problem occurred. It will not delete your data, but take your programs back to where they were before this problem began.

Start, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore, Restore to an earlier restore point.

You are out of luck....

The restore disk wipes the disk and re-images it with the factory image.

You should have received several reminders before the restore process to back up your data.... :(
