Washer will not complete cycle

My problem started when I tried to wash a stiff rug. The washing machine began running very loudly and knocked the front panel off. I opened the lid immediately and could not get the washer to start up after removing the rug. I've tried rotating the pulley by hand and noticed that there is a stiff spot, but it rotates quite easily.

I have since been able to get the washer to complete 1 cycle and have had it running for about 5 minutes on two other occasions. While I've had it running, I noticed that there is a bit of a water leak at the bottom of the tub. The machine sounds good for a few moments but eventually starts sounding weaker and ends.

Any help would be appreciated - thanks.

Re: Washer will not complete cycle

Suspect something may have gone in between the inner & outer tubs& got wrapped around the drive shaft, this could account for the 'tight spot' & the water if the item has displaced the water seal. This may mean a biggish job to get the inner tub apart

Wa52j8700a dirt remains bottom of washer

I would try to run an empty washer through about 4 or 5 rinse cycles and see it the machine will clean itself.
I would also carefully wipe it out after each complete cycle.
God bless your efforts.

Why won't my washer spin?

Sounds to me like your washer tub had a very unbalanced load in it (heavy blankets, jeans, or pillows, all piled to one side instead of evenly distributed around the inside of the tub), and it threw it off balance. When it began to wobble and knock, it may have broken the mechanics underneath the tub which make it spin. The only way to properly diagnose it is if you remove the outer casing of the washing machine and look beneath the tub for broken/out of place items.

I have a Kenmore top loading large capacity washer model 1028882791. It began washing as usual then began to making a loud humming sound. The agitation stopped. It only makes a loud humming sound. I...

The humming sound is coming from the drive motor running but unable to drive the agitator nor the basket to spin. The drive motor is definitely running as the drain function works because of the fact that drain pump is directly coupled with the rear spline of the motor. The drain pump works in either direction as long as the motor runs. The problem is obviously a broken motor coupler which transfers the mechanical energy of the motor to the transmission. The solution then is to replace the broken coupler. Click on the link below for the detailed step-by-step procedure in replacing the motor coupler.

Making loud knocking/clunking sound in the wash cycle.

i have the same problem. the transmission/brake assembly is worn out. the stopping and starting problem... I have that too, that was a dry solder joint on the circuit board. i found it because if I pressed on the area of the panel to the left of the cycle select knob, it would shut off immediately. I soldered it back up and it's fine. Still working on fixing the transmission problem, the parts store wants 300 bucks for the part but looking at the GE website, the tranny might be under extended warranty.

Washer won't agitate or spin out.

Well it is ethier Belt, Cluch ,motor ,Or transmission. But it does sound like your transmission . The loud clunk is the brake in the gear case ( Trans.). It might have broken off.

Knocking in washer

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.

good luck.........
