The 'check filter' is just a reminder. It is on when you turn the unit on, and at the end of the cycle.
The blinking lights, every 1/2 second is not, it is an error code. It is telling you that there is a problem with the door switch (light switch). It could be a loose wire or maybe the door is not shutting properly. Unplug the unit, take off the lid and check the connection. Replace if necessary.

Possible problem with the internal programming of the control board. if this issue continues, you may need to replace the control board.

I had the same problem where the "Check Filter" light remained on and the dryer would not operate. The filter was clean so I tried using a vacuum cleaner in the filter area as well the vent exhaust. Dryer seems to be working now.
pike33 hit the nail on the head. I clean the filter after every use so the filter was clean prior to this use. When I removed the filter and looked down where it sits, I did notice some excess "stuff" down where the filter sits. I have not attempted to use the vacume to remove the "stuff", but that might be an option.
same exact problem, all the lights are blinking on the pannel, including the check filter, my filter is spotless!! when i try to select a dry cycle or start my dryer, it won't allow me to.
