Question about Lands Phones

1 Answer

We are trying to reconnect our phone wires after a renovation. At the outside plug we have two wires connected which are blue wire and a white wire (we are using an old phone extension cord with the four prong connected which we have removed and stripped to use as phone wire). Inside we have a plug with the numbers 2 2, 4 4, 3 3 and 5 5 in that order. Could you please tell us which wire needs to go where. We have black, green, red and yellow wires which need to be connected at the inside plug. Only the red and black wires are connected to the outside plug. Thanks

Phone Jack Wiring Problem

Your apartment is wired for two lines but you are using only one of the two. Your phone jack has red and green terminals for one line and yellow and black terminals for the other (old color codes). The four wires coming in to your apartment are actually two lines: orange/white and white/orange plus blue/white and white/blue (new color codes). One of those lines is active. Connect the orange/white wire to the red terminal and the white/orange wire to the green terminal. Plug in your phone and listen for a dial tone. If no tone, disconnect the first line and connect the second pair of wires. Listen again. DO NOT CONNECT ANY WIRES TOGETHER. Just follow the steps above. If you still don't get results, the phone company may not have activated your connection

Am wiring my alpine car stereo back to my old car , unfortunately i dont know were to connect the wires , the labels on the wires somehow got cut when i kept it in storage , need help figuring were the red...

First thing you will need to do is to buy a wire adapter for your specific make & year of car. This interfaces the stock wiring plug allowing you to connect the wires from the headunit to the wires of the plug.

Here is a color coding explanation for the wires on your Alpine Deck:

P o w e r Memory (+12v Constant) Yellow Ignition (+12v Switched) Red Ground (-) Black Dimmer Pink/White (Alpine only) Power Antenna Blue Amplifier Turn-on Blue/White Phone Mute Light Blue (Sony only) S p e a k e r s Right Front (+) Gray Right Front (-) Gray/Black Left Front (+) White Left Front (-) White/Black Right Rear (+) Violet Right Rear (-) Violet/Black Left Rear (+) Green Left Rear (-) Green/Black

I am trying to connect a second phone line to a box, I have the right wire for the first line( have dialling tone) What colours are the wires for the second line, which one goes into A and which one goes...

If you have tone on line one you should be using colors red/green. The 2nd line will be using colors black/yellow. Make sure that the cable is going back to the telephone company's bridge (the box outside the house).

If you are using Cat5 then the wire colors will be white/blue-blue/white the 2nd line will be white/orange-orange/white.

I know this sound a little confusing but the attached tables and picture should help.

I have an outside light that I want this timer to control. The switch box has a black and a white going out to the light and a black and white with the electricity. The instructions show to hook the red...

You posted under ST01C timer which has 3 wires: black blue and red (no white wire)
Your description seems to say your timer has 3 wires: black white and red

These are two different timers
I'm going to give you two different instructions that are dead-accurate for both types of timers above:

1) Instructions for ST01C and EJ500 Intermatic timers with black blue and red
Lets do the black and white with electricity:
The black Hot wire connects to Timer-black-wire
The white Neutral wire connects to white wire going to Load (to lights)

Now the black and white to the Load (lights)
The black to Load (to light) connects to Timer-blue-wire
The white wires are connected together with wire nut

The red wire is capped off, and used only if you have 3-way switching.
Green connects to bare ground

2) Instructions for all in-wall timers with black, red and white wires (except Aube series timers)
Lets do the black and white from electricity
The black Hot wire connects to Timer-black-wire
The white Neutral connects to Timer-white-wire and to white wire going to Load

Now the black and white to the Load
The black wire to Load connects to Timer-red-wire
all three white wires are connected and covered with wire nut
Green connects to bare ground

DO NOT CONNECT RED TO WHITE with any model in-wall timer and then turn on power or it can blow out the timer >>> I just did that while experimenting with the Utilitec 0192773.
Red wire goes to Load on all timers, except with Intermatic ST01C and EJ500

How do i connect a telephone wire to an rj11 plug. What is the order of the wires for us telephones.

dialtone should go on the green and red wires of the jack for 1 line service, yellow and black for a second line.
Depending on the type of wiring that your dealing with the color code can change. if your wiring has white wires with little dashes of color on them then the code is:
green = white/blue (mostly white with blue dashes)
red = blue/white (mostly blue with white dashes)
black= white/orange (mostly white with orange dashes)
yellow= orange/white (mostly orange with white dashes)

I need wiring manual for goodman mini split.

outside unit L1 and L2 are load (input 240vac)
then you have control voltage, usually yellow and blue (24vac) this connects to some 18/2 thermostat wire which goes inside as white and red.

note: this unit may only need 24v control which is 2 wires from the inside unit and also 3 wires 2 hot 1 ground for line voltage.

STANDARD WIRING
on the inside unit you have green, white, blue and red control wires.

on your thermostat you have white, red, yellow and green

you run the wire from the outside unit to the inside unit. then run a 18/4 wire to the thermostat if wired and join the following wires.

inside unit thermostat outside unit
green------------------------green
white-------------------------white
red----------------------------red
blue-------------------------------------------------------blue
yellow--------------------yellow

Here is what you need. The regular phone has a small (1 inch by 1/4 inch) plug, under the plastic base. That Serial connection will plug directly into the botton of the expansion unit you need to attach. The regular phone runs off of 2 wires (Normally white blue, blue white) And then the buttons will need to be proammed within the system.
