Storage memory critically low no instructions inbook to correct
My Dell Axim 50 constanly gives me the message
"storage memory is critically low. If you do not increase storage memory, etc, etc"
No where in the book does it really explain what to or how to correct the problem. I bought 2 larger memory cards that are insertable, but no real instructions on how to raise the storage memory

Re: storage memory critically low no instructions inbook...
Hi. Your device gives this problem because its internal storage memory is low, low enough that Windows starts to lack some space. Correcting this issue is simple, you can first transfer some of your personal data (pictures, music, etc..) from your internal memory to your SD Card. (You can do this process by the help of File Explorer, and also that can be found in the Start Menu.) If this is not enough, you can uninstall some of the old programs that you don't use from your internal memory (You can press Start Menu -> Settings -> Add/Remove Programs). At the end, you can check how much space you have on your device (both internal and external card) by tapping Settings -> Memory. I think the empty space in internal memory should be at least larger than 3MB for normal usage. Hope this helps.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Musaji Ahmed Hariff, Your device has two slots located on the top of the unit. The larger slot supports CompactFlash Type II cards. The smaller slot supports Secure Digital (SD) memory cards, Secure Digital I/O (SDIO) cards, and the MultiMediaCard (MMC). All three memory card types are available in sizes from 64 MB to 1 GB or 2 GB. CompactFlash Cards Your device supports CompactFlash Type II cards. Back up your files on this and do a hard reset. Then restore your files. If thi does not work then go to this web site: http://www.valksoft.com/SpaceReclaimer.html it is an excellent program for the pocket pc. I have it on my pocket PC phone and use it multiple times a day.
Do you use your phone to browse the internet? if so, go to internet explorer -> options -> memory. and let it delete all temporary internet files. That should free a lot of internal storage.
Turning your phone off and on again can also help to delete temporary files to make room in your storage memory.
You will need the disk that contains the firmware. The best thing to do is check on Amazon or ebay and upgrade to the highest firmware your device can accept. I belive the cost for a downloadable copy is between $5-10. If you do this make sure to follow the instructions for you can irrevocably render the device useless. :-(
two possible things
your phone memory is almost full
or ur external memory is almost full
or both of them
try to free up some space by deleting photos, mp3s and video..
hope it will solve your problem.
I've had the same problem. Typically the Temp Internet Files are the culprit. Which hotrodvixen mentions, but not the others. Are you using the internet a lot or downloading files from the internet on a regular basis that may be an ongoing problem? What happens if when you get the low memory message you just clear the temp internet files, does that fix the problem (temporarily)?
For any others who need to know how to clear temp internet files:
Open Internet Explorer > Menu > Tools > Options > Memory > Delete Files
Try disconnecting your Axim from your PC, then open ActiveSync on your PC, and delete the partnership. Next, reconnect your Axim X5, and go through the connection wizard again, and create a new partnership.
