I have the same problem, including the interior drum light doesn't come on.

I have the same problem. The drum light blew out. The dryer won't start, but the lights are the panel are on. It just beeps when I try to push the start button. What's wrong?? I unplugged it, flipped the fuse, doubl-checked the door was closed.

I also have the same problem. The light stopped working a few weeks ago. I opened the dryer door last night and the light flashed on for a second then went out. The panel lights are still on but when I push start it just beeps like it does when the door is not closed properly. I have checked and double checked the door and it appears to be fully closed as normal.

I have the same problem. The drum light no longer lights. After selecting the drying cycle and pressing "Start" it responds with a "triple beep" and a flashing expected drying time light. The only indication I could find in the owner's manual for the "triple beep" signal was if you pressed the "more time" or "less time" button when in one of the automatic cycle modes. I called the technical assistance help line and the technician could not provide an explanation of the problem. He recommended calling a repair service.

My dryer is 5yrs. old and is used eveyday. A couple of months ago the end cycle beep began steadily beeping several beeps at a time and would stop then do it again. This didn't happen EVERY time i used the machine tho. then one day the light stopped working. however, the machine seemed fine. The last time I used it the bulb acted like it blew then it never worked again. I found a tech sheet and tried doing a diagnostic test on it and after the first step it read 3E. Now I'm trying to figure out what that means. Please help!!

I have already had massive problems and costs with the Duet Washer (could have bought three of them now with repair costs in only two years) and now the dryer is beeping and flashing when I try to turn it on. This happened after I opened the door and the light blew.... then when I tried to turn it on to dry another load minutes after that, it just beeps at me and ticks me off. I can honestly say that I will NEVER buy another whirlpool product if this is going to be the case. Could have bought a cheap car in comparison.......paaaaaaalease!!!

I have the same problem. Has anyone replaced the bulb and did it fix it? I noticed it needs to have a 10 watt which I do not have. Only a 7watt. Will a new bulb fix it or is it more internal?

  • nseaton Jan 15, 2008

to mel88210 I have tried several different sized bulbs and watts. None work I had to order the exact one 120v 10watt. Will let everybody know when it comes in if it works.

I had the same problem. I found out that the door switch (switch that is pushed in by the door when it closes to tell the machine that it can switch on ) had blown. It costs about $16 for a new one. You have to open up the casing but then you just unplug the old one and plug the new one right in. My light still doesn't work but I never really saw the point of it anyway.

All we did was take the bulb out, which is located inside at the back. We have not repaced it yet, just removed it and the dryer works perfectly. Again the bulb is inside the dryer under a plastic cover. The coer can be removed with a screwdriver.

I recommend inspecting the drum light to ensure it is securely seated in it's socket.
I had this same problem. The light stopped working, and I got a "triple beep" when I tried to start the machine. I tried a number of things to resolve the problem, including calling Whirlpool technical assistance. Finally, I decided to look at the light itself to see if there was any connection between it and my problem. When I examined the light bulb it appeared to have exploded on the inside. It was brown in color, and the element was completely separated from the light assembly. But, since I didn't have another light I replaced the broken one, ensured it was installed securely into the socket, and.... now my dryer works again!! My light still doesn't work, but at least I can dry my clothes.

If drum light also stays on at this point, door is not closing properly.

I have a whirlpool duet dryer.. I need to know how to put in the rack for the tennis shoes.. HELP

Hi dear. Here is some help from the user manual.I hope that helps.Thanks. DryingRack
To use the drying rack
Do not remove the lint screen.
1. Open dryer door.
Place drying rack inside dryer drum, positioning the back wire
on the ledge of the inner dryer back panel. Push down on
front edge of drying rack to secure over the lint screen.
Put the wet items on top of the rack. Leave space between
the items so air can reach all the surfaces.
NOTE: Do not allow items to hang over the edge of the rack.
Close the door.
5. Select a timed drying cycle and temperature, or an air cycle
(see following chart). Items containing foam, rubber, or plastic
must be dried on a clothesline or by using the Air Only
temperature setting.
6. You must select a time by pressing MORE TIME or LESS
TIME. Reset time as needed to complete drying. Refer to the
following table.
7. Press (and hold) HOLD TO START button (about 1 second).
NOTE: You must remove rack for normal tumbling. Do not use
automatic cycles with the drying rack.
This chart shows examples of items that can be rack dried and
the suggested cycle, temperature setting and drying time. Actual

Rack Dry Setting Temp. Time*
Wool Sweaters

Amana model LGA30AW automatic setting doesn't shut the dryer off

You can make adjustments to your Automatic Cycles by adjusting the Factory Dryness Level:
Changing the Automatic Cycle settings to increase or decrease drying time:
If all your loads on all Automatic Cycles are consistently less dry or more dry than you would like, you may change the default settings to increase or decrease the default dryness

Your automatic drying settings can be adjusted to adapt to different installations, environmental conditions, or personal preference. This change is retained and will affect all of your
Automatic Cycles, not just the current cycle/load. There are 5 drying settings, which are displayed using the time display:
0 Much wetter clothes, 30% less drying time.
1 Slightly wetter clothes, 15% less drying time.
2 Factory preset dryness level.
3 Slightly drier clothes, 15% more drying time.
4 Much drier clothes, 30% more drying time.
TO CHANGE THE DRYING SETTINGS: NOTE: The settings cannot be changed while the dryer is running or paused. The dryer must be in standby mode (power is off) to adjust the default settings.
  1. Before starting a cycle, touch and hold DRYNESS for 6 seconds.
  2. Touch DRYNESS to select the dryness level shown in the time display: 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4.
  3. Touch START/PAUSE to save the new dryness level setting.
