Water leaks out the bottom of door. metal ring with spring came off. put it back on and has leaked since

Taking it off is kind of hard. You have to take the top off, the door lock off, and the front off, and the screws out of the bottom on the drain filter. Make sure it's not leaking from the bottom by putting water in the tub. Check to see if the gasket is torn on the inside by removing the spring ring with a flat head. Find your way to get it back on after replacing this part. The rings are tricky.

The rubber came loose and the metal ring that holds it came off. How do I reinstall this ring?

the wire ring just keeps the seal in place,, make sure the bottom of the door glass is clean,, if so look at the seal and see if it is pushed in alittle around the bottom,,you can take a hair dryer and heat it up while pulling it back out ,, ( just the lip part) if that doesnt work you will need to replace the whole gasket

Not likely that you have a hinge problem, but it can happen, especially if water has been dribbling down the back side of the front panel from the dispenser area, getting on the hinge, and causing it to bind up. Replacing the hinge is a pain because the screws are put in with thread lock, requiring heating or even drilling in some cases. If you have water dripping down the front of the machine from the door, the most common reason is that there is some lint or hair on the bottom side of the glass door, preventing a complete seal to the gray rubber gasket. Generally, just cleaning off the bottom of the glass door will fix it. If that does not do it, you can try moving the spring clamp (which holds the front of the gray tub seal) from the bottom (6 O'clock position) to the hinge area (9 O'clock position) Sometimes, the leak is caused because someone pushed the washer into place by placing their hands just below the door and actually deformed the metal front panel inward, preventing a seal between the door glass and the gray tub seal. If that is the case, it may be corrected by removing the spring retaining clamp, taking the front of the gray tub seal off, pulling outward a bit on the metal panel at the bottom of the door openings, and replacing the seal and retaining band again.

The spring goes around the door seal it needs to be stretched around the small lip that holds the seal in place. The spring is where you grab it with needle nose pliers. the spring goes on the bottom. You will see where the rubber seal has a wider spot this is where the spring should be right at the 6 o'clock position. This is a little tricky to do the first time trying but keep at it you will get it.

It's actually pretty easy to get it back on when you know the trick.

Since it has leaked on you, you may want to remove the seal off of the rim closest to the door and clean the rim and the sealing surface. The seal has a molded lip that fits on to a raised formed rim, and it gets pressed on snugly before the ring and spring are added. You can seat the seal by pressing on it all the way around with the palms of your hands.
To install the ring:
Start the ring 180 degrees from the spring, placing it in the groove behind the seal face. (You want to make sure that the seal is pressed back into place first). Work the ring on around the seal, until you get to mostly just the spring remaining. Now lever the spring over the lip and into the groove, using a small screwdriver, being careful not to damage the seal with the screwdriver.

Check the wire ring that goes around the rubber seal located just inside the door - we had to call a repair person out one day because our door was leaking, and he told us it's important that the spring be at the top of the door opening to prevent leaks from happening. He had a hard time moving the spring to the top but that seemed to help.

A few months later we found a water leak from our soap tray, so we had the tray replaced under warranty, although I'm not sure that helped because the replacement looked identical to the old one. It only leaked when we used powdered Oxyclean and liquid soap in the tray at the same time; the leaking water ran behind the front cover and dripped out onto the floor all along the front of the machine, mostly near the left corner, but we stopped putting Oxyclean into the tray & the problem stopped. This is boot retainer. DO NOT CONTINUE USING. If water gets on electrics it can be dangerous. Also may cause further damage. These sometimes come off if unit shakes too much. As in broken shocks.

Yes you can do it. the door boot has come off the tub opening. first you will have to push on the door boot (gray rubber)on. There is a grove that slides into the metal opening in the washer. make sure the the door boot (gray rubber)lays flat against the outer opening. then with the spring at the bottom . start at the top put the wire in the rubber grove. until you get the the spring then pull down on the spring and tuck it into the grove..
