Skipping tracks My ipod is constantly skipping to the next track without actually playing any of the tunes. My pictures have all disappeared. It is on continuous cycle of skipping from track 1 to track 454, then I press play and it starts skipping all over again. I have tried turning it off and on again and still the same. I am trying to wear out battery hoping this may kick start it to work again? Help!

Try moving the top button to hold and then back again, then hold the centre button and menu at the same time for at least 6 secs until apple logo comes on, this should have reset it!     From Tiggleumpumpum

Did your music subscription service expire? That would cause it to read every song as zero. Definitely try the rest method first. Disable auto-synchronization feature for all programs that you sync the device to.

My itouch keeps skipping songs. with each restore different tracks skip. as soon as I fix on track a different one stops working.

when you go to your music file and play a selected song. you will see two arrows in a circular formation and antoher set of arrows intersecting one another (shuffle). change the colour so both sets of arrows are grey by touching them.

Nano Audio Playback Repeatedly Skips Same Section of Song Track

I get this a lot with MP3s and it is because of the chips that Apple used in these iPods. It's only in the very latest ones they have solved this by using a different manufacturer. The best way I found to solve this was convert all the MP3s to AAC.

To do this, in iTunes
  1. go to the preferences and in the General section where it says 'When I insert a CD' or similar there is an ImportSettings button. Click this and in here there is a selector for 'ImportUsing' and change it to AAC - The native codec for the iPod. Save all this
  2. then in the main music library select the song you want to repair and right-click (ctrl-click on a mac) then choose 'Create AAC Version'. This will convert it.
  3. Now right click it and choose 'Show in Explorer' (Finder on a Mac) and delete the MP3 version.
  4. Back in iTunes if it made duplicate listings for the song try to play it. If it plays that's the AAC version if it doesn't thats the old MP3 version and needs deleting.
  5. Transfer the AAC version into any Playlists you had associated with it for the iPod.
  6. Done.
Kind of a pain if you've got loads of them to do but it does work. I tried repairing the mp3s in other software but the ipod still had issues with them so AAC is the way to go. (You can also convert them back to MP3 from the AACs which also fixes it but if you haven't transfered the AACs to the iPod it wont recognise the change of file for the MP3s)

Hope this helps you out.

All the best

IPod plays about 5 tunes then stops

The tracks that the ipod skips would be of certain formats the ipod does not support ..... when you load the tracks with itunes it normally prompts you with a dialogue box and asks whether you want to convert it to the specific format ..... Try reloading this way and it should work .,... if still a problem restore it and reload

Static and skipping

You might need to have it professionally cleaned / diagnosed. The problem might not be a dirty reader, but a misaligned tray. Many trays, over time, become misaligned. Some more than others. Depends on your use and abuse of the unit. The issues generally happen towards the end of the tracks.

My SA6025 damaging mp3 files!

Make a note of skipping tracks & check these tracks play ok on the PC - this will rule out corrupted tracks.
Skipping of entire tracks can be due to DRM copy protected tracks (purchased on-line). Some players will not play DRM tracks.

You can check for protected tracks.
  • In Windows Explorer, go to the folder where the tracks are stored on your PC.
  • Click on View -----> Details
  • Right click on the header bar in the right hand window and select protected. (If protected is not listed click on More)
  • Tracks will be listed with No or Yes under protected. Check your skipping tracks are listed as No, under protected.
If none of this helps, install and run the Philips Device Manager. Select the repair / restore option and follow the on-screen prompts. This will format the player, ruling out a corrupt file system on the player, and re-load the firmware.

Player stuck in scan mode

Hi...

Unplug it from the wall...give it a couple minutes. Try playing a CD again (using manual controls) If that works , your remote might be the issue.

If you bought the thing new you paid good $$ for it.

It's worth having it looked at by a Pro.
