Hallo!
My "problem" is- bought WiFi
Access point - DWL-700AP, http://dlink.com/products/?pid=326
connected it, turn on - all works - WiFi is, but I cant get accesss to the
configuration window, so my WiFi network is open (unsecured). I input this IP
address which I found in the installation CD, but myXPdon’t open
installation window: http://support.dlink.com/emulators/dwl700ap/gettime2.htm
Ok, my AP is connected straight to the line, without router, but I think that
it doesn’t matter ..
Actually, this unsecured status don’t disturb me, excepts opinion that"other" users, to slow Internet
speed ..
If you have an idea how to fix this problem, let me know. Thanks! Aivars S
In order to get to the AP, and assuming you just plugged it in, you need to put everything in the 192.168.0.x domain. The AP defaults to 192.168.0.50, so you need to make sure that the router gives out IP addresses that does not include 0.50, or change the IP address of the AP. Likewise, the computer you are trying to log into the AP needs to start in the 192.168.0.x domain, with x being anything but the gateway address (normally 1), or 50.
My guess is you have a router built into the modem and it is giving out different addresses. You can set your network address by hand to be 192.168.0.pick a number like 5 and plug into the ethernet port of the AP (may need a crossover) to get to it.

Connect a LAN cable from the D-Link to your laptop/computer'sLAN port, open the browser on your laptop/computer and enter the D-Link'sconfiguration URL.. http://192.168.0.1 The default login = admin The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now configure the wireless settings.
To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

I believe default IP for your router is 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1
Please try both. Once you are asked for username and password put "admin" in username field and leave password box empty. Hit Enter and you should be able to access your router's settings.
I hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to ask more questions. Thank you for using FixYa
Connect your computer to the router using an ethernet cable. Open up your router's configuration settings (the webpage used to setup your router). To do this, open a web browser, and type in your router's IP Address in the browser's address bar (i.e. 192.168.0.1). A window should pop up asking for a username and password. Enter your username, and password (if you haven't set a new password, the default log in is username:admin, password: (blank)), and then you will be brought to the webpage. Once you are here, look for the wireless-security area of the site, and go to it. Under this area, there should be a passkey/passphrase bar. You change it, or just see what it is.
Your router latest Firmware I can see on D-link website is 1.02 If you are referring to German web site page showing a dwl-g700ap_fw_revB_v213b06.zip file be sure to follow the instruction to UNZIP the web_dwlg700ap_v200_r11_0408.bin file: DWL-G700ap Firmware Update
If you did not unzip the bin file router cannot run it as firmware update More over be sure to run the update via LAN cable connection (no WLAN)
If you can browse internet via same device Start/ Run/ CMD/ type "ipconfig" (w/o ") Use default gateway IP address as your AP ip address.. Enable java and use IE (some devices prefere IE) e remember to score this tip.
We will try a hard-reset the D-Link Air DWL-700AP to the factory default settings, please dothe following: Locate the reset button on the back of the DWL-700AP Use a paper clip to press the reset button Hold for about 5 seconds and then release After the DWL-700AP reboots (this may take a few minutes) it will be reset to the factory default settings.
then do a fresh configuration, http://209.85.175.104/search?q=cache:Hm3Vs8XnH3QJ:wireless.cisbg.com/soft/Dlink/dwl700AP/Manual/dwl700ap_manual_102.pdf+D-Link+Air+DWL+700AP+802.11b+protection+code&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=in
the above link is the installation guide for setting up your Dlink wireless
To configure your linksys, access point, we need more information, the ipaddress oif your dlink router and the wireless settings on your dlink router..,
when using the AP you have to make sure you set the SSID, channel & wireless key in the AP the exact same as the router and make sure when configuring the Ap that you set the default gateway as the IP address of the router.
