My microwave is um...sparking kind of...inside

My microwave is also sparking. It is not due to the metal plate. There is actually a row of pin size spots where the interior paint or coating is missing, exposing metal underneath creating spark. I have no idea what would have caused this, nor have I found anyone else with this problem, or a solution.

Is there some kind of protective paint or coating I could brush over the area? The microwave is not that old. I'd hate to have to replace it for something like this.

Quite often this is due to grease or food particles stuck to the inside of the oven or stuck on or behind the waveguide cover.

The waveguide cover is usually about the size of a playing card and held in place by a plastic rivet.

It can be fragile, and the metal edges behind it can be sharp, so be careful!

The cover and the metal behind it should be cleaned with a mild, non-ammonia cleaner.

If the cavity metal of the oven is chipped or charred, it will have to be sanded smooth and clean.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places liek Wal-Mart or Lowe's.

If your waveguide cover is burned, it will need to be replaced.

Melted turntable support

Yes, that's part # WB06X10138 (coupler) and you can get it here.

You will need to remove the bottom cover of the microwave and remove the turntable motor to get the new coupler in.

My MW8108p is flashing and making noises

Do not use the oven! It sounds like the wave guide cover is burned and this poses a fire hazard should you continue to use it. Have a technician look at it and if this is the problem, it is usually a cheap fix.

Emerson Micorwave oven MW8108P

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose connection on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part such as high-voltage rectifier diode

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and
