    LATER INVESTIGATION IT APPEARS THE VARIOUS VOLTAGES TO RUN THE COMPUTER ARE SUPPLIED VIA THE BATTERY PACK. FROM THE 10 BATTERY CONNECTION POINTS, WITH A VOLTMETER I CAN ONLY GET 1.5VOLTS BETWEEN CONNECTORS 4&7 AND 1.4 VOLTS BETWEEN CONNECTORS 7 & 9 COULD IT BE THE THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR IN THE BATTERY PACK IS THE PROBLEM?

Sounds very much like either the HD plug is incorrectly posistioned ( pins maybe one or two places to left or right due to a bent pin .. ) or the HD has been installed upside down .. unlike the 3.5" ide plugs very few 2.5" have position guides to stop you from inserting the HD incorrectly and due to their small size and awkward fittings this is exceptionaly easy to do . Another thing that sometimes happens is that the soldering joints on the ide socket wouldnt pass any exhibition displays and are flimsyly attached and become loose due to the preassure of the new hard drive being inserted if this is the case special soldering equipment is needed to resolder the ide plug on the circuit board .. and shouldnt be attempted by the untrained unless you can afford a new computer as static and error damage by the layperson are a service engineers biggest pay packet boost . Changing a hard drive is one thing soldering on a multilayered circuit is something else ? . I hope this has been of help to you Regards Vortash

    possibly but it should not affect the sysytem unless it was a direct short if you are running on your power pack ie maims adapter the computer should still run even without a battery in .. it has its own power supply distribution .. and the battery should only really be a concern if you are trying to run the computer on it . Take the battery out and you will see that the unit will run on the mains power supply alone see if the fault clears if it does then your battery is short and dragging the power down .. Vortash

Press F8 and choose command prompt.You may have to use a boot disc if you can't get c prompt.
Type cmd ENTER. From the Command Prompt type chkdsk /r/f ENTER. R and F are redundant for repair and fix, but does not hurt.

You can retrieve your data by removing the hard drive and connecting it to an USB hard drive adapter then plug it into the USB port of a working computer. This computer will see this as an external storage device, you can then open the various folders and files to back up your data.
You can then return the hard drive back into the Toshiba then format the hard drive and reinstall Windows to get your Toshiba working again.
You can download thedevice drivers for your model laptop from the Toshiba WEB site from theirdownload page. Make sure you enter the model of your laptop so you can get thecorrect drivers. We have toshiba satellite pro laptop which was working fine. Now it will not turn on and the caps lock, f10 and f11 lights are illuminated even though laptop not turned on. Nothing happens when we press...

Remove all power sources.
Remove hard drive and Ram.
Fit AC adapter and press on. If the laptop complains as there are now no periferals, power down the laptop.
If it still dosn't power up at all, you have a motherboard fault and cannot continue. A Toshiba Computer Repair Cetre will help you out.
If it did work;
Disconnect power source.
Fit RAM and try again. If that still works but now states that there is no OS, power it down and with power source removed fit the hard drive.
Power up again with AC Adapter. Hope fully all now should be well or at least you now know where your fault lies.
I hope that helps.

My toshiba satellite pro 6100 will not turn on. The battery light and power light turns green but it will not turn on.

The problem could be your display. Use the VGA port on the side of your laptop to connect it to a computer monitor, this will let you know if your system is posting or not. (If you see the Boot Screen it is posting).
