It is not your battery. I turned it on and off a dozen times with no luck. The lese would make up and down movements, but would never close and camera would not work when open. So while I turned off, I softely push the lense in after a couple of times it went in and closed as normal. After that I turn it back on everything worked normally. Do not push too hard, it may damage the lese.

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-S750. It will not turn off or on. The battery is full. It turned on earlier today and then suddenly just would not turn off or on. The lens is in the "on" position...

I have a similar Sony (DSC-L1) and have had the same problem. Remove the battery and SD card, vacuum (or blow on) the lens surround. Seems that grit has stuck between the lens and the cover.
If all else fails, try inserting the battery and gently pushing the lens the lens in. NOT guaranteed, but if this fails, try a photo dealer.

I have sony dsc w7 digital camera.some reason my camera lens broken. I would like to ask if i can get new lens to buy. please mail me

Part number of lens assembly of Sony DSC-W7 is as follows..
A-1105-719-A LENS BLOCK ASSY (890C (J1))
Available in Part Store.
New camera would be better choice as lens assembly is high cost part.

When turning camera on, lens opens and closes , then it says turn the power off and on again

The problem is that the lens is jammed.
Here's what I did: I smacked the side of the camera on a tile floor a few times, until the lens started trying to open. Then I used a knife to pry up the lens a little. Believe it or not, it is now taking pictures. You can't imagine how excited I was to get it working.

If this sounds like a joke (it did to me), I got the idea from these forums:

http://www.camerahacker.com/Forums/DisplayComments.php?file=Digital%20Camera/Sony/dsc-w50_acess.turn_off_on_again.html

Good luck!

While turning in off softely press the lense in and out a couple of times. The lense would retract. If not fully, but most of the way, push the lense a little harder in until completely retract. If you turn it on, I should work fine. The reason the lense does not retract is most likely some dust in there somewhere. If it did not help, you would have to open the lense and clean it and close the lense.

I hope it helps,

Camera will not turn on

Hello, please check your batterries by recharging/replacement. The other less naive problem can be in the optical unit (it can be stuck). If you need more info please advice. Arpi

Good Day, if the steps Sony said still not helped, most probably lens assy is defective, true that when it is left protruding a long time, the lens mechanism might stucked, motors might not work or gears stucked. Thanks

Camera probably needs cleaning.

if you find any friction or noisy movement of lense assembly while switching on the camera, its probably fine sand particals stucked in ths lense assembly. pls do not try to operate or fix the problem as it would be needing thorough cleaning by an expert.
