After wrestling with the front panel for awhile it finally came off. On the inside of the sides of the lower front panel are plastic extenders which fit into the groove openings on the lower part on the side of the metal housing. Thus the key is to pull from the side of the lower front panel away from the housing.

Dryer won't turn on. I have a lint fault light. Trying to disassemble to access the lower lint area for cleaning. Does anyone have instructions on how to do this?

You come in through the top. Don't try to take apart the front due to the fact you will lose parts and take hours to get apart and back together. What is the HE5 model number listed inside the door? I may have a manual.

How do i take off top of dryer to change belt

Unplug the dryer! My dryer top is hinged in the back, so I just gently pry up the front of the top after unscrewing the lint trap. Then there are two screws near the top of the front panel holding the front panel to the sides. Remove screws, then the front panel lifts up. The drum will drop down. You can now remove the drum since the belt is broken. Check the back rollers, clean the motor, clean out the inside of frame, replace the belt - making sure it is fed through the idler properly, install the drum- working the belt around the drum, making sure the belt is not twisted and in the correct position on the drum. Reinstall the front panel, making sure the drum is seated properly on the back panel and on the front panel, now you can lower the top and have at it. Your dryer may be alittle bit different but a dryer is still a dryer.

Need to clean lint from dryer cabinet

Here is a list of possibilties that could be making the noise your hearing:
1) Drum rollers - These are located inside the machine on the rear wall and sometimes on the front panel as well. The rollers should be free spinning when you have gained access to them.
2) Idler pulley - This is what keeps tension on the belt and is located inside the machine in the vacinity of the motor, usually directly in front of it. This should spin freely with the belt removed.
3) Blower wheel - This is located inside of the machine on the lower left side. This is connected to the motor and should be easily turned. You'll want to check that this is free of any obstructions
4) Located on the lower left side of the machine it is very unlikely that this is the culprit, yet if all other parts listed above pass inspection then the this will be the problem.
To access these parts you first need to first lift the top up. This is done by pressing the clips inward. These are located on the left and right side in between the top and front on the dryer. When this is done the top will left up and backwards. Next, on the upper inside there are two screws, usually 5/16" bolts, that will need to removed to take the front off. Now you'll will access to the inside of the dryer. The belt will have to be removed to to take the drum out to test the rollers.

How can i find out how to take the front off of my dryer to clean it? i dont have the manual

Try this way, maybe it will work for yours also.
It is for a belt replacment, so it goes further than you need just use what you need.

If you hear a loud bang while your dryer is working, and you notice that the
drum has stopped turning, chances are the drivebelt has snapped.
Fortunately, replacing the belt is a fairly straightforward operation that
can be handled with a few simple tools.
First, unplug the dryer. Lift the lint-screen cover and pull out the lint screen
If your dryer has a lint screen on the inside of the door, skip this step.
Then remove the two screws that are under the cover. To unlatch the dryer top,
insert a thin-blade putty knife between the top and front panel,
about 2 1/2 in. in from one corner. Push in on the knife to release the locking
clip, lift the corner, then release the clip on the other side. Swing the top
up and lean it against the wall.
Next, move to the lower toe panel. Slip the putty knife between the lower panel
and the door panel at one side and twist the knife to release the clip
Then release the opposite clip and lift the panel up and off the hinge springs.
To support the dryer drum while the belt is being replaced, place scrap wood
under the front of the drum.
Loosen the two screws at each side of the bottom of the front panel.
Move to the top of the panel and remove the screws from the inside of the
cabinet that hold the front panel to the sides.
Slide the old belt off the drum.
Installing the belt
Lean the front panel out slightly and allow the drum to rest on the scrap wood
support. Drop the new dryer belt between the front panel and the drum, and
loop it over the drum. Then, lift the drum slightly while pushing the front
panel back into position.
Replace the screws at the top inside of the front panel, tighten the lower panel
screws and remove the scrap wood from under the drum. Check to make sure that
the rear drum seal fits properly over the lip on the rear bulkhead.
Position the new belt where the old belt was, with the grooved side of the belt
facing down.
Now, move to the motor area and pull out the old belt. To route the new belt
around the idler and drive pulley, first pass the entire belt, doubled up,
under the idler pulley. Then, push the idler belt toward the motor, slip the
belt around the motor pulley and release the tension on the idler pulley.

Open the dryer door and rotate the drum counterclockwise a few times to make
sure the belt is tracking properly. Lower the top and press down at each
corner to engage the clips. Lift the lint-screen cover, replace the two screws
and reinstall the lint screen. Finally, secure the lower front panel and turn
on the dryer for a test.

Cleaning out the dryer vent in the front of the dryer

The easiest and effective way is to get a long brush and use it from the top down with your vacuum hose to catch the lint as it breaks free.

If you are really adventurous here is how to take it apart...

- Remove the lower panel in front by pressing on the release springs, they are in the slot between the upper and lower front panels about 3 inches from each side. Lift and remove the panel.

- Snap the end caps off of the console on both sides.

- Remove the two screws that point down in the console into the top

- Swing the console up

- Remove the 3 screws under the console that hold the top to the back and slide the top toward you and lift off

- Look inside and tilt your head down like you are looking back at yourself. Locate and disconnect the wires to the door switch. Mark which ones went where.

- Remove the 2 screws from the front panel on the bottom first, then the top and pull the front panel off.

- From here you can clean around the motor the bottom and take the door apart to clean the lint chute.

How do you take the access panel off the bottom of the dryer to clean out the build up. There are two clips at the top of the panel below the door section. How can I remove the access/kick panel to clean...

Insert a putty knife about two inches in from each side (where the toe panel top seam meets the dryer front) to release the clips. With the clips released, the toe panel will open from the top and can be removed. You may want to also remove the air blower cover and clean inside the duct chute and the squirrel cage motor to ensure it is also free of lint. You will need to remove the lint filter BEFORE removing the cover or you will have difficulty removing it. If you have any questions, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: Make sure you UNPLUG the dryer PRIOR to servicing anything inside the cabinet. Dangerous voltage is still present even with the unit shut off.

KA dryer has been running without a lint filter. Other owner. I need to know how to take off the front and back panal to clean inside due to fire hazzard. Mdl # KGYE800TWHO . Need schematic drawing. I am...

Disconnect Power. Lift Cover on lint filter. Remove two Phillips screws taking care NOT to allow them to fall into the blower housing. Next, place a putty knife in the space between the upper and lower panel at the front of the dryer about 4 inches in from either side to push up the retaining clips while pulling on the lower panel. This will release the lower panel and give you full access to all the main components and most internal areas needing cleaning.

The only area affected by running with no lint filter is accessed by removing the rear panel. With rear off, the filter housing on the left will have several 5/16" hex head screws to be removed for access to the blower wheel and housing interior. With screws removed go to front and insert putty knife in the seam between the top and front panels about 4 inches in from both sides. Lift top at same time and raise when disengaged. The filter housing can now be moved sufficiently to vacuum the interior from the rear removing any large foreign objects first.

You have now cleaned all the dryer areas that need cleaning. Don't forget the airflow through the vent line of the house.

Reverse the above process to reassemble unit. Good Luck.

How to replace heating element

Remove the power plug from the wall socket. The front panel must be removed after getting the case top loose--remove screws from back near the top, then slide top back and lift the front of the top. The front panel is held by screws near the top inside, then lift panel off. Remove wiring from inside the panel and set panel aside. Take back lower panel off and release the drive belt from the motor. Remove the drum--screws inside near center. Leave belt around the drum and set aside. You now have access to the heating element. Reverse the above to reassemble. Whew!!
