Says paper jam and there isnt!

It is possible that even though there are no full sheets of paper jamming the printer that some torn bits have been left behind. You need to make sure that cleaning is complete.

Preventing paper jams The following recommendations can help prevent recurring paper jams in your HP product.
  • Before loading paper in the tray, hold the stack of paper, and then tap the bottom edge on a flat surface so that the stack is even on all sides.
  • Make sure that the length and width adjusters on the tray are correctly positioned, and then push the stack of paper forward until it stops in the tray. CAUTION: Do not force the paper to move too far forward in the tray.
  • Do not overload the tray with paper.
  • Only add paper to the tray when the product is not printing.
  • Make sure the HP product supports the paper type. See the documentation that came with the HP product for more information.
  • Do not print on paper with paper clips or staples attached.
  • Do not use paper that is bent, torn, dusty, damp, wrinkled, curled, or paper that does not lie flat.
  • Use only one type of paper at a time. Do not mix different types, weights, or sizes of paper.
  • Do not use paper that is too thin, too thick, or too glossy for the product.
Cause The following factors can cause paper jams:
  • Paper loaded incorrectly in the paper tray.
  • Damaged or dirty paper rollers.
  • Torn, wrinkled, or damp paper loaded in the paper tray.
  • The rear access door or two-sided printing accessory (duplexer) might not be closed or is not locked into place.
  • Paper was added to a stack already in the tray while the HP product was printing.
  • The tray contains more than one type of paper.
  • The paper is jammed inside the HP product where you cannot see it.
  • An obstruction is blocking the paper path.
  • Torn pieces of paper from a previous jam are stuck in the product.
  • The tray is too full.
  • If printing on an envelope, the edges of the envelope are bent.

I hope thihs is helpful.

Paper jams too often and for no apparent reason. This time tore paper and therefore unable to unjam!

To clear the paper jams always follow the instructions from the manufacturer, here is the support page from Brother website.

Also, sometimes when I get paper torn inside, I use a pair of long-nose pliers to remove it, but be careful not to damage any parts inside the printer.

If the printer is jamming constantly then that means you have a hardware issue in there. Look carefully where is usually jamming and see if you have a clip that stops the paper or a roller that's not pulling the paper and try to fix it or replace the faulty part.

My HP4100 DTN is continually having paper jams for no obvious reason. What can I do to resolve this? (I mean, I know how to resolve the jams, but how can I make sure it does not jam all the time)

Old age printer, prepare to replace the parts.
Step 1: Clean all paper path sensor, replace paper pick up rollers, seperation pads, check with out duplexer unit..
Step 2: Even paper jamming replace fuser assembly..
Step 3: Check with duplexer unit, clean deolexer sensors & rollers..

No charge on the ETB and or paper, Causing paper fold and jams. Any ideas o brainy ones?

No idea what no charge on ETB/ Transfer kit or paper means?
As far as the jamming with folds? means there is an obstruction in the paper path. Check for labels, bits and pieces of paper etc. Check the paper pickup assembly "paper guide" it often pops out on one side when the paper tray is pulled out roughly by that troubled angry employee. Old fuser that has been reset instead of replaced can do that also. Also check feed rollers they shoud not be slick if they are you will get frequent paper jams.

Just bought the product and it is already not working.

Check the paper setting in tray. May be slanted and causing it to pull paper in un-even, this will cause jams. Old, wrinkled paper will also cause same problems.

Xerox 6100 laser - paper jams if paper tray low on paper

There could be two things. First, be sure the paper tray is not binding. The metal plate in the middle should spring up easily. The friction pad should be firmly attached to the tray, but not extending over the metal portion. The second thing would be to clean or replace the feed rollers. They are inside the machine above where the tray would sit. Since the tray feeds when full, I don't think you have a clutch problem. Let me know how it goes.
