ER code on interior lcd show up & shuts off the fridge

LG fridge 2-3 yrs old top fridge bottom pull out freezer. Fan motor starts running loud and soon enough ER shows up on the display and the unit shuts down. fixed so far by blowing a hair dryer on the back wall of the freezer which gets rid of frost and poof works fine for a couple of weeks then its a do over. could it be related to my ice maker leaking a bit when it fills - i imagine a small puddle of water on the frz'r interior floor contributes to the frost build up but not sure if related or part of the problem. Tech came out months ago - said I needed a new condenser- $1000 or something - he also said a new cond'sr was not guaranteed to fix the issue - i sent him packing 2 seconds later - i was also told to cool the condenser using wet bath towels & a fan, did it, but results are the same as the blow dryer "solution" works for awhile (weeks) then ER comes back & it shuts off. i have no idea how hot cond'sr should be - i can lay my hand on it w/out melting my hand but it's temp is uncomfortable afer a bit. Its not a power issue, surge, brownout, or fluctuation - i changed outlets and put a batt back up unit in, didnt matter ER showed up again. SO ............any ideas?
