SOURCE: I have a Onkyo Model HT-S5300 I can to install two

The speakers and amp are optimized at 6-ohms. Adding speakers will require you to run them in parallel with a possible dangerously low impedance; or in series, doubling the impedance which is safer.

These products are not designed to be modified.

Try differnt speakers, if they do not produce sound, amp channels may be blown and then you need to take it to a shop.

Mission m73 with a woofer which seems to have gone dead

I use to have some warfdales that did that, and generally it was the cross over unit that would blow a fuse, if fitted.

I open my b212a and disconnected the speaker and horn wires and know i have completed my repair i am read to reconnect and i don't remember which set of wires are the positive side

Because the system is bi-amplified, it is important to replace the wires correctly to avoid phase problems. I don't know how the wires are colour coded, but if it is any help I downloaded the schematic and the wires are numbered 1: Woofer Active 2: Woofer Earth
3: Tweeter Earth and 4: Tweeter Active. Sorry if that's no help. Otherwise it should be easy to trace the wires to see which connect to earth.

How do i install my component

from the speaker outputs of the head unit / amplifier. Connect from the positive and the negative outputs to the respective positive and negative input of your X-over box. Now connect from the X-over woofer/midbass output to the bass driver. Now do the same for the tweeter from the X-over from the tweeter output to the tweeter. Make sure that all the positives and negatives are correctly connected.
If you are going to use your head unit to power the speakers then you should know that:
White & white with black stripe is the Front Left Speaker output
Grey & Grey with black stripe is the Fron Right Speaker output.
Green is rear left
Purple is rear right.
I think you get that the black stripe speaker cables are the negatives.
good luck

I have floor speakers that i replaced all the speakers in it with 4 ohm speakers and i just bought a onkyo receiver n it gets really hot and shut off 1 time....i was wondering if there is a way to wire it...

Home audio is typically 8 ohms. If the speakers you used were designed for mobile audio then this would be why the receiver is overheating. You may be overloading the output

Crossover?

A crossover is a circuit that breaks down a whole spectrum of frequencies into groups. For example, your speaker has 3 individual speakers (drivers) in it. There is a woofer, mid and tweeter. A crossover will send the appropriate frequencies to each of the drivers. The woofer can not reproduce high frequencies so it doesn't make sense to send them there. The sam can be said for low frequencies and the tweeter. The crossover point defines the splitting point of the frequencies. Depending upon what sub-woofer you are using usually the crossover freqwuency is either 80 or 100. Most often it is 100.

Hope this helps,
Dan

Need to replace 11L tweeter

the best solution I've found is this:
1. Remove all the tweeter screws.
2. Take a thing metal rod (a coat hanger should work) and lightly tap the tweeter through the top port in the rear until it is loosened and comes out. The tweeter is totally sealed so you probably won't damage it if you need to do this to a working tweeter.

This method also works for the woofer but you need to be very careful to tap the frame or magnet of the woofer and not the cone.

I have a kenwwod AX-7 home theatre systems. the right side top speaker (tweeter) on one side does not work. i'm thinking there is a fualt with the amplifier on the right side.

If the only problem is the tweeter, and the woofer is still working, you do not have a problem in the amplifier. The problem is the speaker. The tweeter is blown or you have a problem in the cross over network in the speaker.

You can always switch the speakers and connect them to the opposite channel. You can do this very easy at the back of the receiver where the speaker wires are at. Put the left speaker wires on the right speaker and the right speaker wires on the left speaker. If the same speaker still has no tweeter you know that the speaker is the problem.

The only way this could be a problem in the amplifier is if you have two different sets of inputs for each speaker, one being the low end for the woofer and the other being the high end for the mid range and tweeter. That would mean you have two sets of speaker wires going to each speaker. Each set of speaker wires would have a positive wire and a negative wire for a total of 4 wires going to each speaker. I don't remember this system being set up that way, but I could be wrong.

I hope this was helpful, you should be able to get the speaker fixed at an authorized Kenwood repair center in your area for a reasonable price. As a guide, my shop only charges $25 for the labor plus the cost of the tweeter to replace a tweeter. Any other shop should be similar. Kenwood does sell replacement drivers for almost all of their speakers.

SP-UXV30 speakers

Hi,

Offhand, the tweeter can be rated similarly to that of the woofer but not lower than 26 watts. I think your concern should also include the physical mounting and size since most branded units would be using proprietary components/parts and are not readily available.

Most electronics parts store would be carrying "generic" tweeters and "as per sample" would be your best basis. If I understand it right, **** Smith in Australia would be similar to Raon Stores in the Philippines or Akihabara in Japan.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Installation Help

This means that you have purchased a three piece home theatre system. Two tweeters and a sub-woofer. Assuming you are using a Stereo player (Tape/CD/DVC)you have to connect the Left Output of the Stereo placer to the Left Input at the back of the Sub-Woofer and the Right output to the Right input of the subwoofer by cables. Then take tweeters and connect them to Right speaker and Left speaker output at the back of the sub-woofer ( note if the speakers are marked L/R, then connect them to the subwoofer output accordingly. In case you are using a 5.1 player, then only connect the front right and front left to the Right and Left input at the back of the subwoofer. You are and you can now start playing your music or movies and and you will get theatre quality sound.
