Question about LG 42PX5D 42 in. Plasma HDTV
I have seen a post on your website that suggests changing the voltage by 10v on the power supply to cure sparkles. Do you know if this actually works?
Are your sparkles mainly red pixels flashing randomly over the TV screen, especially over darker areas? If so your sparkles are I believe a discharge problem, and can be fixed with a firmware upgrade, which I think resets and corrects the voltage and removes the sparkles, which is caused by misfiring of the gases produced with plasma TV's. I have had my TV repaired with a firmware upgrade, which takes only 10-15 minutes and is reasonably cheap repair, and now the TV looks great, no more sparkles. Don't play around with the voltages let the pros fix it, also beware! leave this too long and it can become permanent, and need a new screen which is half the price of the a new TV.

I´ve just fix my 50" inch LG plasma by turning the VSCAN voltage thats at the back of the tv. I did go several times with my vendor and he only said the red dots were dead pixels and the guarantie didnt cover that. So I went to the magic of google and found out that it was as you all said "a voltage problem" and it could be solve by turning the VSCAN switch. I did took a lot of care, cause if you touch anything that you are not supposed to you can frie your tv. I am now whatching it and so far so good.. I guess better than when it was new.
I'll give you the link i used for it.
