Ipad password first. then make your connection to router access via work preferences I think can't remember, it is menu where you set your emails and info look under wifi setup you will need your security code that comes with router, should be on the router bac/side.
If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then -
To connect to your wireless router, the router needsits wireless settings to be configured with the SSID, encryption key etc., alsothe wireless cards and wireless adapters in all the laptops/computers needs tobe configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router and access the Internet via the DSLor cable modem. If the other laptops are connecting to the wireless router, then look at the wireless card configuration in these laptops and apply the same settings to your HP Probook wireless card.
This is usually a problem with not remembering the correct password. Quickest path to resolution is to reset the router (usually a small pin-hole that you stick something like a straightened paper clip into). Once the router is reset see if you can connect without a wireless password. Go online for only a minute and see if you can connect to google.com. Don't go wandering all over the internet, your router is unprotected at this point. If you can successfully get to google through the wireless connection without a password, unplug the internet cable (the cable between the router and the wall, modem, whatever). Using your PC browser go to the router setup menu - usually putting 192.168.1.1 in the browser address field and pressing enter works, but if that doesn't work you'll need to check the Linksys web site for the correct ip address. Locate the password setup menu and configure the settings. Note that once you set up the password your wireless connection will be disconnected and you'll have to reconnect to the router using the new password. An alternative is to connect the pc to the router with an ethernet cable during the password menu setup steps.
It seems that router wireless setting need to reconfigure, please follow steps to resolved issue
1. Open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari). 2. Access the router, usually by typing 'http://192.168.0.1' or 'http://www.routerlogin.com' in the address bar. 3. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the Username and Password are case sensitive). 4. Click on Wireless Settings'(under Setup) from the left menu. 5. If WPA is selected in Security mode, then check the Password that show up in the passphrase box.
now try to reconnect wireless
Try turning off the wireless router fo 30 secs and then power it up again. When the LEDs light up, then boot up the HP laptop.
If this doesn't work, then check the laptop to see if the wireless router issued the HP laptop with an IP address. to do this - click on Start - Run - type cmd and press Enter. This will open a DOS command box, then type ipconfig and press Enter.
If the IP address returns 0.0.0.0 then the wireless router didn't issue the HP with an IP address and either the wireless router is faulty or the wireless card is faulty or it has lost its LAN configuration.
If the wireless router LEDs are all on, try connecting a LAN cable direct to the LAN port on the router and the laptop to see if it connects to the Internet. If it connects then install the latest wireless card driver and configure it with the wireless router's settings.
You need to go into the netgear router settings online with a computer that is attached to the router. You enter this:192.168.0.1 in the address bar to gain access. You need to know your username and password to gain access to the menu. Then check the wireless settings to see or change the passphrase.
Look underneath the bottom of the laptop. HP is known for putting the wireless toggle switch under the laptop, to keep it out of the way. But that also keeps people from finding the switch to wireless, from wired.
I'd bet your laptop works if plugged into the network with an RJ45 cable.
You can try resetting the Westell to defaults, but pressing a thin pin, (Paperclip works great!) into the reset hole, in the back, and holding it in for 10 sec. You could also try using the lowest channel you. Most Westell's I have worked with have good wireless range, though. Test your laptop at a nearby hotspot, i.e. Starbucks. McDonalds, etc. If it is not the laptop, (Averatec laptops have horrible range!) and the reset don't fix it, have it replaced.
If a LAN connected PC will not work while a wireless laptop is connected you need to go into advanced router setup, bandwidth management, and untick the three boxes labeled "active" to disable the band width management. Easy!
