Get paper jam message, paper is marked at the begining of the sheet but not jammed. When select copy button ,there is no paper jam problem, only when print command is used to print a document

Please follow this instructions to resolve your issue.
Solution # 1 Power cycle the printer
  1. Turn off the printer
  2. Unplug the power cable at the back of the printer
  3. Wait for at least 1min.
  4. Plug the power cable again
  5. Print test page using the printer itself (press and hold the OK and HELP buttons on the front panel of the printer, until it will prints a test page, then release the buttons.)
If you still having that error message, please proceed to the next step.
Solution #2 Clear any jams on the printer itself
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Please make sure that you will not take out any jammed papers in front of the printer, it can cause a mechanical damage on the printer.
  3. At the back of the printer, take out the access door.
  4. Clear any jammed papers, please make sure to clear the rollers.
  5. Print test page using the printer itself (press and hold the OK and HELP buttons on the front panel of the printer, until it will prints a test page, then release the buttons.)

If you still having that error message, please proceed to the next step.
Solution #3 Please make sure that the carriage will moves freely
  1. Turn off the printer
  2. Open the cartridge access door
  3. Disconnect the power cable at the back of the printer.
  4. Check for any paper or other object that might restrict the carriage movement.
  5. Reach inside the product through the cartridge access door, and then manually move the carriage.
  6. Remove any paper or objects you find that restrict the movement of the carriage.
  7. Make sure the carriage can move freely across the width of the product. Firmly push the carriage to the left, and then to the right.
  8. Close the cartridge access door.
  9. Reconnect the power cable to the rear of the product.
  10. Press the power button to turn on the printer.
  11. Print test page using the printer itself (press and hold the OK and HELP buttons on the front panel of the printer, until it will prints a test page, then release the buttons.)
If your still having issues with it you need to contact HP to have your printer replace, if your printer is still in warranty you don't need to pay for anything, but if the printer is out of warranty charges may apply. 1800-474-6836

Printer won't print...there was a paper jam and it was cleared

Most of the Lexmark printers (including the Z- and X- series) pull the paper down on one side slightly faster than the other. The printer hardware should even this out when printing. You should also ensure the paper meets the automatic feeder requirements of the printer.

If printing is skewed, feeding multiple pages or jamming, please follow these instructions (use a regular letter size paper to test after doing the steps given below):

Please check to ensure there is nothing obstructing the paper feed mechanism down inside the printer where it is not easily seen. If there is nothing obvious, unplug the printer and remove the paper. Open the front cover and look above the steel rod. You should see a conveyor belt with rubber teeth on it, like a fan belt. Take the bottom part of that belt and move it gently to the left. The cartridges should come out with it. Make sure the cartridges can move fully from one side of the printer to the other. Check also the output rollers on the bottom of the printer for any blockage. If it is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot. Turn the printer off. Next take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the paper feed slot (The manual paper feed slot is preferred, but the automatic feed will do if there is no manual paper feed for this printer) until it comes completely through the printer to the back of the exit rollers. Move it up and down and slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate this may work it loose or you may have to feed the envelope through the front rollers and push your way backward (please be careful here).

Next, take a damp warm cloth and clean the rubber rollers in the automatic sheet feeder. Dust may be coating the rollers there and as they become less tacky, they cannot feed paper correctly.
Then plug the printer back up, take your paper out and replace it with a fresh, small stack (about 5 pages) of paper. Quickly bend the stack in an 'S' shape a few times to separate pages. Make sure it is lined up on the right side of the paper feed and the paper guide on the left is snug on the left side of the paper. Then try to form feed again. If that works, then try to print the self test page.

Please follow the steps given below to perform the self-test:

1. Press the "Copy" button once.
2. Press the "Options" button 11 times until the screen reads "Maintenance."
3. Press the "Left Arrow(-)" button until the screen reads "Maintenance: Self Test."
4. Press "Select."

The self-test should at least print out a set of either black or color bars, if not both (if you have a printer with both color and black installed simultaneously). If the self-test still fails to take paper in and make sounds like the carrier is moving across the paper, this is a hardware issue, and the printer will require service. If the self-test completes without any cartridges installed, run the self-test again with the color cartridge installed. (If you have both black and color cartridges, after this test, run the test again with just the black cartridge installed.) If you find that either cartridge causes the self-test to fail, please let us know.

If the self-test prints, but has lines or smudges or other print quality issues, please let us know. This includes any print quality issues, we need to know if the problems you have with your black or color are based in the printer, or communications with your computer, or the computer's software.
If the self-test prints your test bar(s) clearly, the printer hardware is not at fault.

Just tell me how to reset printer into factory settings. I have tried it by LPT1 connection and commands sent from command prompt, but doesn't help. The problem is that printer after print request...

To reset the printer.
1) Turn printer off.
2) Hold down feed button whilst turning printer on.
3) Let go of the feed button as soon as it starts to flash and then wait.
4) Printer will measure out 4 labels then print out a Hex dump ending with a not to "Push Feed to Exit"
5) Push feed

Follow the above instructions, if you mess around tapping the feed button (not following the above) you can change the printer between line mode and page mode. To swap that back is another storey.

Dell Laser Printer 1720dn Will only print test pages. When attempting to print a document, I click on 'Print', and the command is sent to the printer que, but the printer doesn't print. I've tried deleting...

Check that the correct printer is set as default. Also use File Print so that the selected printer is shown rather than using the Print button. If the test pages are being printed from the computer then the communication is working.

Will not print test page or documents

  • Make sure the printer is turned off and the paper-release lever is pushed back to the single-sheet position. Raise the paper guide upright.
  • While holding down the LF/FF button, turn on the printer. The PAUSE light flashes.
  • Slide the left edge guide until it locks in place at the guide mark. Next, adjust the right edge guide to match the width of your paper.
  • Slide a sheet of paper down firmly between the edge guides until it meets resistance. The printer loads the sheet automatically.
  • Press the PAUSE button. The printer begins printing the self test.
  • To stop printing temporarily, press the PAUSE button.
  • To end the self test, make sure the printer is not printing. Press LF/FF to eject the sheet; then turn off the printer.
