TTN tension, take up, needle.
Beginning with the spool, guide the thread through the thread guides to the tension assembly. Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.) If it passes this test, continue up through the take up lever, then down through the thread guides to the needle. Make sure your needle is fully inserted and turned the correct way.( If you load your bobbin case from the left side, the needle rule is normally FLAT to the RIGHT is RIGHT. There are some exceptions. If you have a newer style drop in bobbin or your bobbin case loads in the front then the rule is FLAT to the BACK.

How do I drop the feed dog

I don't have a book for this machine so this is a generic answer.
1. Remove the compartment where you store extra thread, screwdrivers, etc
2. Look for a small switch where you can raise or lower the feed dogs.
3. Another way is to set your stitch length to zero.

My thread keeps jamming in the shuttle race

try a new needle
try a different bobbin and make sure the bobbin is turned the correct way in the bobbin case
make sure the top thread has not come off the top thread take up lever

My needle won't grab the bobbin thread but if I put some fabric in and start to sew the bobbin thread comes through. However, the bottom thread is all bunched up and causes the machine to jam.

the looping on the underside sounds like a needle thread tension problem. 1st off check top (needle) threading then turn machine by hand to pick up bobbin thread

Why is the bobbin side of stitching is all loopy

loops on the bottom means top thread isn't getting tension. Re-thread top thread with presser foot UP. Then test your seam again. If you still have loops, tighten the UPPER tension.

My thread keeps snapping. How can I fix this?

Try releasing the thread tension a little. Make sure that you are using the correct thread.

Machine is jammed and will not budge,,,hand wheel will not turn

Look into where the bobbin is. Did you break a needle and part of it is jammed in the bobbin shuttle? Did you have a thread binding problem and thread is now caught in the bobbin shuttle area. Clean the debris from the bobbin area and see if this is where the problem lies. 99% of the time it is. Remove the bobbin and look close for thread rapped around the bobbin shuttle.

Good luck!
