You have to lubricate the pulley bearings, and the contact surfaces and change the friction teflon element on circumferance of drum.

Drum not turning or heating up

Is power getting into the machine? If so, is the motor turning? If motor turns, is there a belt stretched that prevents drum from turning.

Musy clarify problem with maytag dryer. heat is working fine but drum stopped turning is it possibly a belt or something got stuck? i can turn drum by hand

You've almost assuredly got a broken belt. There are so many different ways of disassembling various makes and models of dryers, there is no 'one size fits all' instruction to guide you through it.

Washer works fine dryer does nothig

Looks like my Maytag. My dryer belt is broken so doesn't tumble. Check by taking two screws out of tilted panel and look at belt. If it isn't heating probably heat coil. If nothing probably electrical. Maybe door switch is open circuited.

Belt and drum turns but with a thumping sound.

check the idler pulley, it could be broken. Also check the inner side of the belt for a chunk missing.

Dryer got very hot and smelled burning..

This is usually a result of a stalling idler pulley or drum, causing a burned spot on the drum drive belt.

The situation will only worsen. The belt is best replaced before it breaks.

Items to pay attention to, when the drum drive belt is replaced, are:
(1) Clean and lube the idler pulley and drum roller shafts.
(2) Confirm that the drum glides will yield additional service life.
(3) Check motor condition and de-lint the blower housing and blower intake pathways.

No fire

This link --->click here<--- is the exploded view for your unit. If you look at diagram 4 (gas valve), the first guess would be a faulty igniter (diagram location 12). This is only a guess for no tests have been done to narrow down the faulty component.

If you need assistance, let me know.

Please take the time to give this solution a fix ya rating.

Maytag dryer does not turn around inside.

Hello, try reaching in the drum, grabbing ahold of one of the baffles. The drum should have some resistance when trying to turn it, If the drum turns very easily, than your belt is either broken or has fallen off. Provide a model # and I can tell you how to open the front panel. Thanks Dave www.washermd.com

The hard work is over! The old belt should pull out from the drum area if it is broken. There should be two ends to it now. Get a new belt and put it over the front of the tumbler. You should, (with a flashlight) be able to see where the old belt was running. Get the new belt close to that spot.. I believe your model ran with the smooth side of the belt to the drum.It will not look right to you, but the tensioner passes the belt through the pulley and motor pulley on the grooved side of the belt.Once the belt is on, reassemble the dryer front in reverse of disassembly.
