Wiring Hayward pool pump

Model 2607X10- The intent is install a 115v power cord.
It has a black white and red wire (green ground) coming from the motor.  The black goes to the black, white to white, an the ground to the grounding screw.  Where does the red wire go to or is it capped and left open?
Thanks!
John

That's what I had thought, but the company I bought it from told me to jump the wire and try an run it at 115v.  I figure to try that will void any possibility of returning it.  I'll deal with them.

    Thanks,

    John

John what you have is a 240 volt motor on that pump. It will not connect to a 120 volt cord. You'll have to get a different pump.

    Hi John,

That company that told you that should severely reprimand the tech, customer service person or whomever that told you that. That could kill you at worst case, and cause a lot of damage at least.

There are motors that can be hooked up to run on either 120 or 240, but they are well marked and wired for it, with specific instructions on what to do.

You could run conduit with a 4 wire cable into and hook it up to your pump, but that would entail buying a switch and wiring it, as well as running it to your circuit breaker box, buying a 240 volt double circuit breaker, opening up your circuit breaker bix (exposing you to extremely high voltage) and hooking it up. Not an easy project unless you have a lot of experience wiring.

If you do decide to go that route, I will be happy to guide you through it. But my experience has beem that you are better off with 115/120 volt cords around pools.

If you are happy with this explanation, I'd appreciate a vote from you. Good luck!

Internal wiring on Swimline Hydrotools sand filter pump 714061 115V 60Hz 3.6 amps. Where do you attach the internal and external power cord wires??

You may have to match the labels on the capacitor to the wiring diagram. For example, the black wires may be common, the blue wire would be 6.8 µF and the yellow wire 2.7 µF (pulling typical numbers out of a hat). The wiring diagram may show one of these numbers connected to the start winding on the motor and the other connected to the run winding. The respective windings should be labeled on the diagram or on the pump motor.

Next, you would have to trace the wires on the diagram to the H (hot), N (neutral) and G (ground) connections - find the switch(es) on the diagram and on the pump, then work back to a terminal or black wire in or near where the power cord enters the case. The white wire is N, and the green wire goes to ground. The ground may be marked on the wiring diagram with a triangle pointed downward with a straight line on the top side, or with three horizontal bars with the longest one on top, also with with the vertical connection line on top. Ground may be a green-colored screw in a metal part of the pump, or a green or bare wire connected to the frame metal.

If in doubt, contact an electrician.

I disconnected the pump and need to know where the red black aND WHITE wires go

Hi, this is John the Hayward tech. You say the wire colors are Red, Black and White. Does not seem that the wires colors were correct from the start. Not knowing your voltage let me clarify some things. Normally if you have 115volts coming into the pump you wire colors should be Red or Black to L1 White to L2 and a green ground to the green ground screw. If you have 230volts coming into the pump the two hot leads are normally red and black with a green ground. The red and black wires go to L1 and L2 does not matter red or black. The green goes to the green ground screw.

I have a AO smith ST1152 and red black and green wires. How do I wire it

Verify the voltage to the pump. These days motors and pumps largely are set to run on 230v out of the box (for in ground pools). If your supply voltage is 115v, the motor will run at half speed. This would cause poor suction. If this is the case, do this:

On the side of the motor there is a diagram on how to convert the wiring from 230v to 115v so it will run on the correct voltage. Most of the time, that's the issue. Flip the breaker off before working on it.

Changeing 115volt to 230 volt

Most power Flo pumps run above ground pools and run on 115v only. You can look at the wiring diagram on the motor label to see if it is convertible, it will show wiring configurations and amps for both 115v and 230v. If not, it is a 115v motor only.

Im replacing a 2 speed Hayward motor with a AO smith 1 speed motor. I need to no how to wire the 1 speed

to wire a single speed motor you use only the black, white and green wire. there is usually a wiring diagram on the side of the motor to show how this is done.
no wiring diagram then put the black wire on the L1 or H1 post and the white wire to the common and of course the green to ground

How to install a power cord to a Hayward 1hp Power Flo Matrix pump.

One line lead wire to the L1 terminal, the other line lead wire to the L2 terminal and the green ground wire to the green grounded screw above the motor terminal board. It does not matter which wire, white or black, is on which terminal, L1 or L2, so long as one wire is on each terminal.
