Question about Envision EN-7100e 17" Flat Panel LCD Monitor

1 Answer

My Envision 9410 Monitor flashes on and off. You see the picture fine, but then it goes to a black screen and then back to seeing desktop. The power light goes on and off while this is happening. Is this the inverter?

What do you mean the LCD going back? Do you mean the LCD is going bad? I have looked at the capacitors but they don't look bad. All the soldering joints look good. How do you tell the capacitors are bad other than that? What do you mean they get puffy? Some have what looks like a white glue on the side of them.

Its either going to be the inverter or the lcd going back and it can't keep the screen lit.

Also I've seen it where the capacitors on the power board go puffy and they need to be replaced.

It will be one of those three things.

I have a Envision EN-7100e monitor. Downloaded

catamount309, This is only a guess, but unit may have internal "switch-mode-power-supply"/"CCFL inverter" board problem. When screen goes BLACK, is it also BLANK? If you can see WIN-desktop with aid of bright flashlight 1 inch from screen, then SMPS is in partial shutdown mode. If you see nothing, then SMPS is in full shutdown. In either case, Technician will need to repair the SMPS/CCFL inverter board. If KNOWN GOOD monitor works with PC, then you know 7100e is bad. Do you know and understand how the new energy efficient screw-in curlie-Q light bulbs work? If the "electronic ballast circuit" not working, then it can't light-up the CCFL tubes on the reverse side of LCD panel then you see black. Do more reading in my fixya profile for more options open to you. Do your research first!! Hey, reading is free!!!

We have an Envision 9410e 19" LCD monitor which is about 4 years old. Recently it has started being very slow to start up, especially in the morning after the system is not in use all night. The screen...

cmgusa, Reconnect 9410e to original PC. Please note if same symptom occurs again. This sounds like an intermittant or failed solder connection of some component on the inverter/smps power supply board. Have you tried the FLASHLIGHT test when the monitor goes to a BLACK screen? You did not state the approx # of hrs of use this unit has on it. The Flashing you describe is most likely the cold-cathode-fluorescent-tubes trying to start-up. If they don't light then you get a black screen. They (CCFT) get their voltage from the inverter section of the power supply. But anyway... Your options as a consumer/user are as follows. Check with Envision to see if they have a swapout program... you send them your 9410e +$50-$90 and they send you a REFURBISHED 9410e with 30-90 day warranty. or Find local TECH (TV-Monitor) who knows forward and backwards all there is to know about repair of LCD monitors. There are some very good tech's right here on fixya that could do the repair and not rip you off. Last but not least is try to effect repair yourself. If this last option is of intrest get back to me only after doing web search of monitor disassembly video clips on youtube and doing search for things like bad caps or recapping and inverter repair + have a minimal understanding of how a SMPS/inverter powersupply functions. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @aol.com Bye for now.

Envision EN 7100si LCD 17" flat screen

First try auto-adjust with the auto button on the screen
if not worked

Make sure she installed the envision driver. I jus saw it's a discontinued product. Also this product has a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024.

If installed check her resolution. Right mouse click on desktop>properties>screen. Try alternate resolutions and see what happens but don't set it higher then 1280 x 1024 if possible.

StudioWorks 700s Monitor No Signal

Try to connect the monitor to a different desktop/laptop, to see if it works at all.

Try a different monitor on your computer, to see if the video-card in your computer is the problem.

Or, spend $50 to $100 to buy a used 15-inch or 17-inch LCD monitor.

It does indeed sound like a backlight problem. Generally speaking, the expense in finding a new backlight and having it fixed isn't worth it considering a new 19" monitor can be had for $150.

If the monitor was dropped, most likely you damaged the internal components that provide the picture, whether LCD or CRT. Try connecting it to another computer. If this doesn't work, check the monitor's display settings or operating system display settings for contrast or brightness. NEVER open up the monitor, because there is a high voltage capacitor that stores voltage even when the monitor is off and could kill you if it discharges.
