Sd card not being a removable drive in lexmark x4650?

Ok everytime I put in my 2gig sd card in my lexmark x4650 printer it gives me the options and things to do with the photos on the card on my printer. But the card wont show up as a removable drive on my computer, so I can manually edit files on the card?

Removing write-protection from SD card

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Message says can't read card, even when I put a new card in. How do I fix it?

Your camera is programed for SD memory cards from 8MB through to 2gig if you have put a SD card in the camera larger then 2gig it can't read it. If you are under the 2gig maximum then it's possible the SD card is in the lock position. At the top left corner there is a little white slider type switch make sure this switch is pushed forward to the top of the card in the direction of the gold contacts. Also a new card will need to be formatted for the camera to read the card properly. See page 11 screen shot I have provided for correct card installation.

Also page 12 for the formatting of the memory card.

Missing pictures

Lets check the SD card first.

Take out the SD card and put it in external card reader connected to computer.

Copy/transfer all the photos from the SD card to computer.

goto My Computer and right-click the 'Removable Disk' (the SD card drive) and click Properties.
click Tools and click Error checking - Check now button
select the option 'automatically fix file-system errors' and click Start button.
if any errors was found and fixed, you can also Format the SD card. And your SD card should not drop photos again.

Now put SD card back in the camera.

Now take 20 test photos and check if something is missing.
if not take 20 more test photos and check if something is missing.
if all is ok then you can delete all test photos and start taking normal photos.

2gb sd card but available only 1gb

levyveress,
Well you have a 1GB SD card, there are roughly 1,073,741,824 bytes max per gig. They vary slightly from USB flash drives it total bytes, but the number should be 1,930 (or something close) MB for the 2Gig SD card, bring it back it may have been mislabeled on the packaging.

Remove write protection on micro sd card...card is not "locked"

You might want to check on Samsung.com in the support section of your phone and see if the cell phone can recognize a 2gig card. It may only see 1 gig and lower.
