Cd-rom icon missing from My Computer

Acer Aspire 4520 laptop. The icon was there over the years. Recently it has disappeared. The drive is working so it's a software issue. Pl help

shut down the laptop, physically take out the drive an reseat it back into its slot. Turn the laptop back on and see if the icon shows back up in my computer.

Go to my computer
right mouse click on the Cdrom drive
Hit create short cut

This will put it where it was, Thank You
