Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Mouse arrow is skipping around when I move the mouse.

When moving my finger back and forth on the mousepad, the arrow skips around the screen randomly. I have a Compaq Presario CQ50. Plugging in a mouse doesn't help. My freind suggested that this is happening because the left click button is very slightly depressed, but I don't know if that's the promblem. Can you please help?

disconnect the ac adaptor and only have your battery plugged in and see if it still does it.

How to ouse the mouse?

The mouse is used by people to navigate around the operating system like Windows.

There are a number of buttons on the mouse, Left Click, Right Click, Scroll Wheel and Wheel Click.

Your index finger operates the Left Click and you middle finger operates the Right Click and Scroll Wheel.

The mouse, when moved in turn moves whats known as a cursor on the screen, it's that arrow.

Think of the cursor as your pointing finger.

Hope that helps!

My mouse pad will not move my cursor on my computer

If your mouse is the older ball type hold the mouse level about 12 inches off the pad and move the ball on the underside of the mouse with your finger. If the cursor moves you may need to simply clean any dust from inside the device and clean the ball. Open the open to release the ball. Theres a round plate on the underside around the ball. Turn it to the open position a remove the ball. Clean any dust from inside with canned air or a soft brush. Clean the ball with a small amount of alcohol and let dry completely. Replace ball and plate and you should be ready to go.
If you have an infrared mouse, your mousepad may be too glossy. Dry a pad with a dull finish.

The scroll bars on the mousepad don't work

Since it is a Laptop you can not just go over to the Scroll Bar. Move the arrow from the mouse over to the scroll bar. Hold on the left key below the mousepad. The scroll bar should turn a differnt color. Move the scroll bar up and down with your finger, using the mousepad.

My dell wireless mouse works intermittingly. Starts skipping and then works for a while. Changed battery and cleaned mousepad no improvement.

At the back of the Mouse, there will be small flushed 'reset' button. Press that. It resets and reconfigures the connection.

Have a nice day :)

Cursor skips lines while typing

My experience: cursor suddenly moving backward when i was typing, or moving somewhere else on the page. I would be typing and text suddenly would get highlighted. I followed someone's advice to disable the touch pad. Since I do have a mouse & key pad that was all i had to do.
HOW TO DISABLE THE TOUCHPAD FOR ACER 3680 AND OTHERS??? PRESS Fn +F7
Yep, it was that simple. At first I made sure i typed without my fingers or palms touching or near the touchpad. I noticed it seemed to stop or happen less. Soon as I disabled the touch pad all is back to normal. Yet I spent hrs trying to find out how and there were all these posts by people suggesting downloads and other more complicated things etc..
