Question about Garmin StreetPilot c550 GPS Receiver
I can no longer read my LCD Screen. I have seen multiple blogs reporting this problem happening from the first day of purchase forward. Is Garmin recalling this model to correct feature? This product is made to use in a car yet I am being told not to leave it in direct sunlight or heat and to make sure my a/c is blowing on it. How can I do this and still use it as a GPS? Please help!!!!!!!!!
Try tapping the power key while the unit is on. This may activate a control for contrast and brightness. Otherwise it's in the settings screen. Try looking at the screen in bright sunlight it may be make the screen visible enought to see the settings.
The unit will withstand the same heat that a human body can withstand so you can use with no problems while you are driving. Don't leave it on the dash when you are not using the vehicle as the extremely high temps that occur in a stationary vehicle with the windows rolled up will damage the unit. It is very easy to place the unit where it is not in the path of air conditioning.

You probably just need to find the reciept where you bought the C550. Sounds like Garmin is protecting its customers when they say $300. This is most unfortunate thing to happen to you. Is the Garmin $300 issue as I thought and related to you not having the registration code or Reciept?
