Question about Panasonic KX-FB421 Plain Paper Film Fax

Open Question

White Vertical Lines on all copies and received faxes.

There are 2 thin vertical white lines on all printed pages from my Panasonic KX-FB421 Flat Bed Plain Paper Fax and Copier. They are on the left side of the page (1&1/8 inch and 2&1/8 inches from left edge of the page and each 1/16 inch wide) and in the same place always, regardless of whether I am making copies or receiving a fax. I have been told they are not on sent faxes received by others from me. I have cleaned the printing rollers and thermal head 3x with cloth and alcohol, (and cleaned the flat bed glass and white cover with a dry cloth). The machine is very clean and hasn't been used much (I'm using the 2nd replacement ink film roll). Thanks for any assistance you can give me.

SOURCE: Document sent is blank for recipient

Hi there check the machine scanner light by putting the original in the feeder and doing a copy. If the printout comes out OK then it either could be the other fax machine you are trying to send it to or you have a intermittent fault with your scanning lamp (Section).

You also must make sure that the original is text face down.

Hope this helps you
Thanks J

Check the spongy black roller inside the machine for dust, wipe with a dry cloth.

Open your document feeder and check for dirt on the white bar.

Unwanted verticle line on fax copies

Most likely a fax has been sent or a page copied with 'white out' (Liquid Paper), still wet on the page. As the page feeds over the scanner, (a narrow strip of glass that runs across the width of the page along the feed path) the wet liquid paper comes off on the glass as a thin line and dries. Thereafter, when copying, scanning or sending a fax, the scanner light does not go through the liquid paper streak and the result when printed is a thin vertical line that runs the full length of the page. If this is the cause you will also find that faxes you send to other people will also have this line (although faxes you receive are not affected by this problem with your machine).

To fix the problem: follow the path that the paper travels when sending a fax or making a copy, until you find the scanner (narrow glass strip). Take a clean, soft cloth and a small amount of methylated spirit (or white spirit) and remove the now dried Liquid Paper from the glass. Clean the whole strip ensuring that the glass is left clean and dry.

I get lines and can't read the right side of copies that I make with the 1270e. How do I fix this?

You have not specified why you can't read the right side of copies and I am assuming that the reason is because the 'lines' are covering the text. I can offer a solution to the lines issue.

2" black horizontal line appears on paper when I fax, print,

Check the wondow where the paper passes to be scanned. You will probably find some debris or white out stuck on the glass. That is usually the cause of vertical lines on sent faxes.

Vertical line appears in scans using the ADF, but not with copies

happened to me after i fed a page with not-too-hard whiteout on it. the feeder makes the page run through a different piece of glass and i just had to clean it.

White lines while sending/copying

Everything seems to indicate a dirty 'corona wire'. This seems to be the most common cause of vertical white lines running the length of a page when copying/sending. Below is a link to the User's guide for your machine with instructions for cleaning the corona and other care when using your fax machine. Best of luck.

Clear vertical lines when printing that do not clear up by shaking toner

does it do it on copies and internal test as well???
1- check the thin strip of glass inside the machine and make sure it is clean, look at the toner are there any line on there that corresponds?? yes then replace.it could be coming from the drum or toner. I beleive the drum is a seperate piece from the toner

Vertical clear lines on the recieving end

My suggestion is if it only happens from that fax then there scanner has a problem.

Not familiar with that model but there are only two ways that i've seen.
1- scanner is located on the bottom side of the buttons. lift menu door, look inside there is a thin strip of glass clean, look on the top side there is a white plate, clean

2- open machine take out toner look on bottom of machine there is the thin glass of clean.
