I switched to vista 64 bit on an hp touchscreen and now with the updated driver the scanned images are enlarged so 1 letter size pg becomes 6 pgs to get the whole document
Re: scans are enlarged after switching to vista 64bit
Hmmm... just the set pixels properties to medium..maybe the pixels properties is to high..it can cause long time scanning and large images results ..thank you

You can download the software for 64-bit OS from manufacturer's support website by clicking this link
On the page which opens, select the operating system of your computer (Windows XP 64-bit/ Vista 64-bit..) from the drop-down menu (See attached image).
Then download the required drivers and software.
The list of available software and drivers will load only after selecting the operating system of the computer.
Hope this solves your problem. Thanks for using FixYa.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Canon supports this scanner under Vista. Check if the Windows generic TWAIN scanner driver will work. The Canon software won't work. If the generic driver can be installed, then you should be able to acquire scans in Paint (File > Import from Scanner or Camera), Windows Fax and Scan (New Scan) (some versions of Vista) or Windows Photo Gallery (IIRC it works like Paint).
I hope this helps.
Cindy Wells (Canon wants you to upgrade. I have a different scanner that isn't officially supported past XP and the generic driver works fine. Unfortunately, you can't just use the XP driver in the compatibility mode due to the lack of signed drivers that are required in the 64-bit OS)
The problem cannot be solved. You need to give more information. Firstly, do you have a 64bit PC? If so then is the Vista disc you have, an upgrade disc or an OEM straight install disc which requires no OS on your PC to install Vista 64? If it is an upgrade disc, then you need a qualifying OS, on your PC to upgrade it to Vista, for eg. WinXP, Win 2000, etc. If it is an OEM Disc then maybe the PC cannot find the disc to boot from when you switch on your PC. Get into the PC's System Bios and set the boot order so that the CD/DVD disc drive is scanned first rather than the Hard Disk drive of your PC at switch on. Then save the settings and exit the system Bios. To get into the system Bios you need to either press the 'Del' key or the 'F2' key when the PC is switched on.
You are correct in that paperport 9 will not work on Vista and paperport 11 is the alternative. I called about a similar model and the guy at Brother told me that paperport 11 is included on an updated cd from brothermall.com for some models. It was only about $3 so you might want to check for your model. Hope this helps.
Most of the software nowadays are only works for 32Bit operating system, you could try to check the availability of 64bit driver of your Printer from the manufacturer's web site.
