Divide the cooling capacity by the total watts. example 10,000 btu's divided by total watts ( voltage times current)

10000/(120 volts X 7.0 amps)
10000/840=11.9 eer

NO PROBLEM YET, JUST HAD A GOODMAN AIR CONDITIONER INSTALLED MODEL CKL36-IL AND WAS TOLD IT HAD EXCELLENT EFFICIENCY TO FIND OUT THAT ITS A 10 SEER EFFICIENCY RATING WHICH I UNDERSTAND IS THE LEAST...

10 seer was the most efficient for the older generation units and in 1992, it was required that any unit has to have 10 seer or greater. The least efficient seer rating you will find on any new unit will be 13 seer which is a lot better than 10 seer and will save you almost 30% in energy cost. As of lately, they have made units available that are up to 20 seer or more, but they are pricey. I know you said you just had the unit installed, but from the model number, I'm assuming it is an older unit? If new, then it would have at least a 13 seer rating. Hope this answers your questions!

I HAVE A GOODMAN MODEL CKL36-1D I'M TRYING TO FIND OUT THE SEER RATING ON THIS MODEL.CAN ANYONE HELP?

Your going to need to know the age of the unit. If its less than 5 years old, its most likely a 13 SEER. If its anything more than 5 years old, its most likely a 10 SEER. If its anything over 10 years old, its most likely an 8 or 6 SEER.

Remember, that a unit will loose an average of 1-2 SEER for every full year of operation. This is just due to age, wear and tear, and usage.

So, if its a 10 SEER unit that is 7 years old, you could say that it is about as efficient as something in the 4-6 SEER range.

Have and older model. 1.5ton 10 seer unit. The

a hard start is not for a fan they are for a compressor and if your compressor need a hard start kit it most likely is not long for this world. most manufactures have a 14 seer line (13 is min) that will with the right coil and furnace match get a 16 seer rating if you have the money this is a good way to go if it is just the fan thats not working i would call another service company or ask that another tech be sent out because if they are telling you that you need a hard start on a fan they dont know what they are doing

I cannot find the seer rating or tonage of a Goodman air conditioner serial number 9908524497

My books do not go back far enough to get you the Seer rating, it is a 5 ton unit and as the serial number shows it to be a 1999 model, it is probably a 10 SEER unit, maybe a 12 seer, but not likely, but I can tell you that it was manufactured on the 8th week of 1999.
I hope that I have helped, have a great day.
Sincerely,
Paul Gibson

How many tons and what Seer is my Bryant model 561CJ048-A

12000 btu/hr equals 1 ton. The 48 in your model number tells me it is probably a 4 ton unit. 48 divided by 12(000) equals 4. Not sure on the SEER

Just had the haier 4 ton 13 seer outside unit installed. my inside unit is a payne and still in good condition.had a 4 ton 10 seer outside unit previously. my problem is the unit froze up the first night...

Your problem is that your 13 seer outdoor unit is not compatible with your 10 seer indoor unit, even though the tonnage is the same. The metering device on 13 seer indoor units is different. Most 10 seer indoor units do not have an expansion valve. When you change from a 10 seer outdoor unit to a 13 seer outdoor unit, you must, at the very least, change the from a fixed-orfice metering device to an expansion valve.

Power consumption excessively high

Yes a higher SEER can help reduce electric costs. However. In most cases this will require changing both the indoor and outdoor units. In other words if you have a 10 SEER matched system and only upgrade the outdoor unit to a 14 SEER you will not get exactly 14 SEER efficiency. They must match.

Before excepting bids on new equipment I would first higher a licensed company to measure the Heat gain/loss from you house. This information will tell you if the current system was originally sized correctly. The improper sizing can lead to high electric bills as well. I hope this helps.
