Question about Panasonic Audio Players & Recorders
So I picked up a Panasonic SG-HM09 shelf system at a thrift store for ten bucks. Seemed like a great deal, appeared to work in the store, but I was testing it with an unfamiliar record. As soon as I got it set up at home, and put side B of Abbey Road on, I immediately realized that the 33 rpm setting is too slow.
Now, this is an old crappy shelf system. The platter is plastic, the arm is plastic. I tried to lift up the platter, but it really didn't like that and seems to not be able to come up. I got a peek underneath, and it appears that this isn't a belt drive turntable, although what that makes it I'm not sure. Direct drive? Idler wheel? Dunno, there seemed to be some plastic gears in there, if that helps.
If anyone could shed some light on how to get this thing up to speed (literally) that'd be awesome.
I have the exact same player and it does the same thing.. I guess no one knows how to fix this.

Most likely the grease in the whole system has started to stiffen or the motor is failing. This can be fixed. Try oiling the motor first. If that fails, I'd look at the motor driver IC as the most likely failing part.

this sounds like the belt that drives the turntable itself is slipping you can normally access it by removing the securing clip by the centre spindle and then lift the turntable up and you should be able to see the belt give the belt a good clean with isopropyl alcohol refit and hey presto (if you still get slippage order a replacement belt )
