Benwabrick, Yes i tried multiple keystroke combinations without any luck. I hooked up an old crt monitor and the computer is fine.

is your computer in sleep mode? Try pressing a key on the keyboard or pressing the buttons on the mouse and see if the screen comes back on

Monitor is definitely bad then, could be bad capacitors on the power board but getting it repaired at a shop would cost more then just buying a brand new monitor.

You have a couple of choices. (aren't choices wonderful?) You can ask a local shop(s) for an estimate to replace the caps. You can attempt to do it yourself. (not too hard if you possess some soldering skills and tools.) Or you can sell the carcass on ebay. People just like me are always looking for such to fix and either sell or use for our own. Put the proceeds towards a new monitor. Wal-mart has new Acer 19-inch really cheap right now.

How do I replace the inverter in a samsung syncmaster 930B?

Hello,

The 930B and the 710T use the same power supply/inverter boards. Below is a link to a repair guide for the 710T unit that should get you going in the right direction.

Light flashing and its a black screen

Hello,

The picture board on your monitor is bad, since it goes off after few seconds and the power led or button is on, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to complicate issues.

Take care.

Monitor will flash the display for a second then go black again.

Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Sumsung 930b goes dim,and flickers after about 3 min.

This sounds like the inverter has gone bad. If the bulb were bad only, you would see a faint image on the screen with a flashlight.

The problem is on this monitor, it will probably cost about $100 or so to take it to a shop to get it fixed, and that is nearing the cost of a new monitor.

If you are a little bit handy, and can disassemble the monitor, you can replace the inverter. The hardest thing about this, is getting the monitor faceplate open. Just use something firm and softer, such as a nylon spudger (this is something you can find online) or you can carefully use a thin scredriver. You just have to be careful, those cases are really tight.

Here is a good guide for general ideas on how it is done.
