Is my Logitech wireless mouse defective?

A number of times, I had the USB transceiver go defective after a bit more than a year. First make sure the mouse batteries are in good condition. If so, I would try the transceiver. I ordered about six of them from Logitech. I have a number of computers using these. After having two fail I decided to have spares all the time.

I just purchased a GE wireless keyboard and mouse. The keyboard works fine but the mouse will not move on any surface. It works if you use it on a mouse pad or a towel etc. I have always used wireless and...

First of all, even wireless laser or optical mice tend to work much better with a slight texture/pattern under it so it has a way of locating/measuring/sensing your movements, since they communicate to the pc upon visual movement, to by force, motion, etc....

Try putting a peice of paper that's full of text under it. Also Make sure the Mouse has a battery in it....I'm only mentioning this since some folks don't realize that ALL wireless devices for PCs require a battery.

I would actually recommend switching brands from GE to LOGITECH. Logitech is better in my opinion.

Wireless keyboard and optical mouse

Thanks! I fixed the problem by installing a USB mouse and using fn+f9. That unlocked the mouse so I could use the pointer leaving just the keyboard problem. I then tried reconnecting the wireless keyboard (by using the button on the receiver and under the keyboard) Hey Presto!!
