I searched forever to fix this, it darn near drove me insane... http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/faqview?scy=US&session=20071221020919_220.127.116.11&slg=AEN&refnr=0016098&refdisplay=AVS_DVP_011&dct=QAC&ctn=DVD622/37B
All you have to do is eject the dvd drive to open and hold down the number one on the remote. Hope this helps your sanity!!

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: DVD player wont show picture
to turn it off select connection method 3 above and progressive scanning mode, to set the mode, set progressive to off in the display menu so that the p scan indicator light on the front panel goes out. do all of this in interface mode. you can also do this by pressing and holding PLAY > on the front of the unit for more than 5 seconds, still watch for the p scan indicator to go off. this works best when the unit is connected directly to the television.
