You can connect it either way. However I would recommend either split-bolt connectors or ring lugs w/ bolt and nuts rather than wire nuts, if you choose to hard wire it.

I just tried plugging my new oven in (model number jrp24) and my GFI flips. The oven is off and the wires are connected properly. I live in a country that requires 220v, even though the oven says 120/

The model number according to GE says this is an electric oven.
It states that this oven will only be Hard wired and not supplied with electricity using a Plug. If it is gas, only one leg of the 220 volt power will be utilized. and the other usually colored white indicating natural, or green indicating Ground. Or, there will be a switch like on all computers that you will simply move to the selected voltage of the country that you live in and this will correct the high or low voltage. I hope this helps, without the full model # I will not be capable of knowing the actual voltage that the appliance works with.

120v on bake element red wire and element wont heat up

the reason its not heating is because you will always have 120 volts on this red wire due to its being connected directly to one side of the in coming power source, its either that you lost the other 120 volts of power coming into the unit,a tripped breaker/fuse/etc. or the control board relay that supplies the other 120 volts to the element for a combined 240 volts needed to heat the element,if you have 240 volts to the connection to the unit then you either a bad control board or the Neutral incoming power wire could be burned off which you need to get 120 volts to operate the control board which operate the relay to supply the element with the required 240 volts to operate

I have just installed a Maytag built-in double oven to replace my old one (still working.) I shut off circuit breaker and reconnected wiring. The Control Panel and indicators on the digital readout all...

How many active terminals are there at the main terminal block in the new oven. Is this a single or 2 phase supply. Have you connected the active supply to all active terminals. If only half of the oven is working it sounds like it could be a problem at the terminal block. If so, you need to put a loop or bridge wire to the 2nd active terminal.
If all this was done correctly when connected the only other thing it could be is the electronic clock needs to be set to manual mode for the oven to work correctly.

We are having a neff oven U15M62NOGB fitted. The wires in the booklet are earth on the left, live in the middle and neutral on the right. Is this correct as the neutral and live are the other way round on...

Yes, the installation instructions are correct. The wiring from your old oven isn't relevant.

Your query is a little confusing though. The new oven should have a power cable attached to it for connection to the mains supply. This should be on a separate circuit from your sockets and connected to an isolator switch. The wires in the power cable are colour coded to ensure that they are correctly polarised when connecting to the mains supply. I'm assuming you're in the UK as you list a GB model number, therefore, it should have a BROWN wire for LIVE, BLUE for NEUTRAL and GREEN/YELLOW for EARTH.

If your house wiring uses the old red (live) and black (neutral) colour coding, then you just need to ensure that the brown (live) wire from the oven lead is connected where the red wire from the supply is terminated. The blue (neutral) wire should be connected where the black wire is terminated and the green/yellow (earth) wire should be connected where the green wire is terminated.

Internally, the oven probably uses red cable for live and black for neutal, but you really shouldn't need to be doing anything with the internal wiring to install the oven.

You say you are having it fitted. Any competent installer would know (or check) the correct wiring order even if the instructions were missing. If you are installing it yourself, be sure are certain you understand what to do before attempting this and double-check the power for the oven circuit is off before you start.

Please rate this solution if you find it helpful. Thanks.

Need a wiring schematic for a Bakers Pride p44 double pizza oven.

hi..there is color coding on the wires..BLACK WIRE is the live wire(wire #1) which should be connected on top of the terminal supply of your oven (if vertically positioned) and sometimes to the leftmost right(horizontally positioned),then the RED WIRE to the bottom (vertically positioned),or rightmost part (horizontally positioned) and the WHITE WIRE is at the center(both horizontally/vertically positioned0 and the GREEN wire must be connected to the grounding of the unit just below/beside the terminal supply of your oven..hope this helps

I need to know which kind of plug is used on this oven so that the electricians can install the right kind of receptacle. Maytag cwe5800acs 24 Double electric wall oven

Your oven needs to be hard wired to a junction box. No plugs on a oven that pulls 30 or more amps 220v Read your install book that came with the oven.

Oven says: ''supply open neutral'' no buttons work what to do?

That means the range is not connected properly, or the power supply to it is not correct. The range needs the neutral (along with one of the hot leads) to supply the 120 volt portion of the voltage required to operate the control. On built in ovens, the red and black are connected to the two hot supply wires, the white to neutral, and the green or bare copper wire to ground. If your supply only has three incomming wires (older homes) then the green (or bare copper wire) and white are both connected to the neutral.

Yes, it is o/k to have a single oven connected to a 13 amp power supply supplied with a 2.5mm cable.
A lot of single ovens already come with a 13 amp plug fitted, so you can plug it straight into a 13 amp socket.
If there is no covenient socket nearby, then you can wire the 2.5mm cable srtaight into the oven terminal block.
I must stress that this only applys to a single oven and not a double one.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
