I would like to know what the metals are to make the internal parts of the coffee machine, and if they leach into the hot water.

The plastic is safe and the interior heater compartment is like all other makers and uses the same metal components.

SOURCE: lead in the coffee maker

It does contain a small amount of lead inside a copper coil located in the electronics of the machine. This part does not come in contact with the water, heater or any other part that would cause lead contamination of your coffee.

This page has a great write up explaining it:

Pods not opening

This is quite common for those machines. Try to not open it completely and push the pod in, until it stops falling any further. then close the lid and you should feel some back pressure while doing so. If not, then plrease bring the machine back to the retailer.

Verismo pods are splitting

I would definitely return the pods. They are probably an inferior batch and they would probably exchange them.

Sounds like a problem with the pods. Check they are manufacture recommended. When on espresso the pressure will be higher so a
"weak" pod could cause this. Unless the machine is producing too high a pressure. Check also there are no projections that could rip the pod when you close the holder.
