Getting message: "VGA mode not support"

I tried to change the screen resolution on the control panel because the size of the picture got too large, and then too small. But then it immediately went to black with the little blue box that says "VGA mode not support.." Nothing I do can get me out of that screen and back to the OS so i can change settings! Help!

Shut the computer off, hold the power button for five seconds.

Once it's off, turn it back on and tap the F8 button until you see a black and white safe mode menu. Use your arrow key to select Last Known Good Configuration and then press enter.

This should get you back to your previous settings.

If it doesn't work simply comment back here and let me know how far you got.

How do you get your computer screen back to normal size

You can right click on a empty space on the desktop then click properties. When the Desktop Properties window opens click the Appearance tab. Go down to the font size and you can change it to normal, large or extra large. Normal is what it should be.

You can also get there by going into the Control Panel and changing the Font size on the display. Click Start/Control Panel and look for Display or Appearance and Personalization. Open the display, click the Appearance tab and change the Font Size.

If that don't do what you are looking for you can click the Settings tab on the display to change the Screen Resolution. The higher the resolution, the smaller the icons and therefore the more you will get on the screen.

Program too large to fit screen hp mini 110 notebook

Change your screen resolution on the Display in the Control Panel.

Click Start/Control Panel and look for Display or Appearance and Personalization (depending on your operating system). When the Display opens increase the Screen Resolution. The resolution will be under the Settings Tab on the Display. The higher the resolution, the smaller the icons and things will be on the screen, therefore you'll see more.

Unsupported video configuration occurs when computer is turned on. then asks to attach monitor cable to add- in graphics card. everything usually necessary to plug into is done.

It is possible that the desktop resolution was set too high for the type of monitor you have. This can happen if adjusting screen size settings. If this is the case, you may see the Dell splash screen at boot up and then the screen will go black when trying to load Windows.

If that is the case, try this:
Boot up in Safe mode or VGA mode (Tap F8 a few times when the dell splash screen comes up.....this should open a menu allowing you to choose the different modes)

If you are able to boot up in safe or VGA mode, you should be able to go into the display settings in the control panel and change the resolution. Find out what the native resolution of your monitor is, and see if you can set it to that. otherwise start the slider at the lower settings and gradually work your way up.

Good Luck

I have a samsung 510m lcd monitor when i plug the vga cable it shows "not optimized mode 1024x768"

Your computer's video-card is outputting 1024-by-768 video,
but your monitor would prefer to receive its "native" resolution,
e.g., 1280-by-1024 or 1920-by-1280.

Change the settings on your computer's video-card.
Note that this could make the text on the screen VERY small!

Or, just ignore the message, if the "large" size of text on the screen is easier for you to read.

We can not seem to get it to recognise our new hp pc.

Start the New PC in safe mode. In safe mode the PC will have low resolution, and must be seen in any monitor.

If you cannot see safe mode picture, then check the cables. If you can see picture in safe mode, go to Personalize in control panel, find printer settings and lower resolution and change screen size.

Restart your computer and tap the F8 key until you get the Windows Advanced Options Screen. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard highlight Enable VGA Mode (Low Resolution Mode for Vista). Press Enter. Then Enter again.
Windows will boot up in a low resolution which will make things look large. Raise your resolution to a normal level in Windows' Display Properties (in the Control Panel)
The next time you restart the computer, it will boot normally.
