I have a Philips 60PW936317F projection tv. The problem looks exactly like the convergence issues decsribed in the trouble shooting. The only thing is I have control of the multi point convergence adjustments on red and blue. The green seems to be shifted causing the warping and 3d look on the screen. I also have a wavey green line on the bottom of the picture. Is there a convergence chip for the green field as well or is the ASC moudule bad? I have also seen the SSm board replaced for this instance. Any assitance would be greatly appriciated.

Your TV most likely a convergence failure. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directigreen color seperation multiple images convergence - 0667c5f.pngnvergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

ALL 3 COLORS ARE SEPERATED AND CONVERGANCE DOES NOT FIX

We fixed this same problem as a dyi project. Check out www.tvrepairkits.com. The kit itself come with the proper chips, fuses, and very detailed instructions which includes pictures. They also have online help if you have questions. If you know how to solder and are a very careful person, this is something that you can fix yourself.

Pink and green colors seperated images rounded off

If colors are skewed and will not adjust in the customer menu---you have a CONVERGENCE circuit problem.

This model (KP-51WS500) uses two of the STK-392-560 convergence IC chips. I just got home from fixing a similar model with the same problem.

Parts cost on Ebay for the chips and such is going to be less than 30 dollars total. Shops are going to get 300 or more for this kind of repair---and some will not do it in your home---the repair takes about an hour--I have done hundreds of them here in people's homes.

If you have questions or need advice, reply to this posting and I will try to help.

If this told you something that helped you understand, rate this solution as I do this here for FREE.

Three colours don't converge

Sounds like your convergence power supply board is bad if it is a ctc or ptk 195 chassis. Located above the main board on the left and dynamic convergence board on right. Has two plugs and held down with quarter inch screws. Most problems on the board is the IC on the metal heat sink which is stk 730-010. whatever you can see the part number on it. Unsolder with solder wick and solder in new. If this doesn't fix a new complete board will do.

Arched picture at bottom seperating the green and red

Your tv has a convergance failure. the convergance ic's need to be replaced. Upgraded part # STK392-150 or STK392-160. Both ic's should be replaced to prevent future failure of other colors.

You might have a bad green convergence output IC either loose from the circuit board or open internally OR shorted. Stargazer
