Cannot connect thru the ethernet cable. Can only connect wireless

I have no problem using wireless when I am at my home in Mexico, but the costs to use wireless where we live in Tucson are very high. I can not get on line connecting thru the eithernet cable.

I am not very computer knowledgeable and every tech. that I speak to supplies me with a different answer. One said burned out hard drive, another said burned out eithernet card. Any idea what I can do so that I can connect thru the eithernet?

You need to supply me more information.

Your HP laptop has a built-in network card and provided the network card driver is installed you can connect to any network device using a network cable.

In Tucson where you use the wireless connection, do you connect to a wireless router in your premises or do you connect to a wireless Internet Service Provider or at an Internet cafe?

If you are connecting to the ISP in Tuscon using a network cable the costs will be the same regardless whether you are using wireless or network cable.

In Tucson how do you intend to connect to the Internet, do you want to use a cable or a DSL modem and if so have you arranged for an Internet Service Provider?

Having an Internet Service Provider in both Mexico and Tuscon you will be incuring costs from both Internet Service Providers.

How do I connect my pc to my router? There is no ether port in the back. Can it be done thru the sub?

There are more ways how to connect PC to router in your case.
My assumption is that your PC has no Ethernet port.

  1. Use wireless connection. Activate Wi-Fi card in your PC and connect it to router by wireless network.
  2. In case you do not have wireless router or you prefer cable link you can buy an USB Ethernet adapter.
Some examples:

Can I disable wireless and connect with ethernet cord and modem, for work do not want remove wireless cord, in the day want to be able to use my wireless.

Are you talking about direct-connecting via Ethernet to a cable or DSL modem? You shouldn't have to disable wireless to do that. If the cable modem has an open Ethernet port, you should be able to run a straight-thru Ethernet Cat-5 cable between that port and the Ethernet port on your laptop. The laptop should recognize that it is connected to the modem through the direct connection. Check the manual for the cable modem or information supplied by your ISP for connection details. You may have to do some setup on the modem to get an Internet connection, like having your ISP 'activate' the modem. Just be sure your Ethernet cable is a straight-thru, standard Ethernet cable, and not a 'cross-over' cable such as is used to transfer data between two computers.

I have a belkin wireless connected to a cable router and I want to get the signal to a home theater using an ethernet cable connectect to another wireless router and can't connect

The Ethernet should plug into the cable router if there is more than one port.

If not plug it into the LAN port on the wireless router.

Do not try and connect it to another wireless router as it won't work.

There should be only one route to the internet, not two.

Belkin access point connect to smart tv

Does the TV, you didn't supply the Make, Model, have a Wireless Adapter? Connect the Belkin, you didn't supply the Model, to the ISP modem, connect a Ethernet cable.

I need to connect a D-Link router to my cable modem so that I can use my laptop anywhere in my home

Cable-modem <-- Ethernet cable --> WAN (or "Internet") port on the router

LAN port on router <-- Ethernet cable --> network-port on your laptop

Then, access the "built-in" web-server on the router,
and run the "Wireless Networking Setup" wizard:
* to set an SSID ("network-name")
* an encryption-level (Hint: choose 'wpa')
* a password for your wireless network

Then, disconnect the Ethernet cable from your computer,
and then "wireless available wireless networks".
Select your newly-created network, and connect to it.

Iam trying to set up a photosmart D7360 to work in my home for all PCs so I'd like to set it up wireless. I'm currently using a router. How do I start? I have a brand ne HP lap top and the photosmart is in...

HP Photosmart D7360 is Not completely Wireless Capable, However if you want to make it Wireless, You will have to use HP bt450 Bluetooth Wireless.

However since this printer has Ethernet Port, you can still make this printer wireless.

You will have to connect this printer thru Ethernet cable ( network cable ) to Router ( this is called wired networking )

Once you have connected the printer to Router, insert the disk in CD Drive and start the installation process, It will prompt you to choose the type of Connection, Choose Wired/Wireless Network and continue with further installation to complete.

How this works,
With any PC that is connected Wireless to Router, You will be able to print wireless from the PC to Printer.

Trouble connecting netgear wireless router to rca modem DCM425

First try connection the Yellow ethernet cable from the rca modem to your computer's network connection. If you get a connection this way, then your modem will work with a ethernet cable. If not, then call Comcast for help. The modem ethernet out to computer port must be connected to the wan line of the router. Then you can connect an ethernet cable from your computer network connection to one of the 4 ports of the router. For wireless connections you must set up the router and wireless adaptor with the same settings to connect. Follow the routers directions.
Good Luck

to set upa network

http://lifehacker.com/software/wifi/geek-to-live-set-up-a-home-wireless-network-162754.php

there is no "earthnet" connection. it is an ethernet connection. it looks like a phone cable but has larger ends than a phone connector. the router is connected to the computer via an ethernet cable if it needs to be hardwired to a ethernet port or internal ethernet card. a wireless connection only needs to be an add-on internal card w/antenna or a usb connector hub (it looks like a usb flash memory stick)

here is how it's done. netgear has the same type setup.

HELP PLEASE ASAP

OK well I think it is better to set it up like this... Connect the Modem to the Phone Line, Connect the Modem to the Router with an Ethernet Cable, Use a CABLE connection from the Main PC to the Router. (Ya gonna ditch the USB WiFi) Set that Main PC connection up to connect to the internet from the Main PC, thru Router thru Modem.... Then from Slave, install the USB adapter in this PC, and use this to connect DIRECTLY to the WiFi Router... and thus to the internet. This way will give the best transfer rates, and reliability
