Question about ViewSonic VG2030wm LCD Monitor

Unable to have 1280x768 full screen with DVI cable

I have a problem with my new ViewSonic VG2030wm monitor, connected to the docking station of a HP Compaq nc6220 (Video: Intel 915GM/GMS, 910 GML Express Chipset). The monitor and graphic card drivers are updated.

The max resolution of this monitor is 1680x1050 but I dislike using the monitor with this resolution, even with large fonts.

My "ideal" resolution would be 1280x768, which respects the ratio.

I first connected the monitor to the VGA port. The image in 1280x768 was ok (it filled all the screen) but there was some interference: some light horizontal bars were moving on the screen, mostly visible on bright colors. Very annoying.

No I have switched from VGA to DVI, the image quality is perfect BUT the 1280x768 cannot fill the screen anymore. The is a large 1" black line at the top and bottom of the screen, the image is shrinked so it is completely visible but the proportions are not right.

And with the DVI signal, it is impossible to play with the "Auto image adjust" or graphic card settings, everything is fixed in place.

Is there a way to have 1280x768 on DVI with this monitor?

Thank you very much for your help!

Use the menu button on the monitor itself to adjust for the screen size in DVI mode.

On your SVGA adapter, go to your display properties (right click on desktop) click ADVANCED and change the refresh rate to fix the first problem mentioned.

I have CMV 946D Monitor and i am trying to connect it to my laptop via DVI cable and it doesn't work. my laptop is already connect to another monitor using VGA cable. do i need any driver or does DVI...

Sorry, but you can use only one port at a time, not both, It is either DVI or VGA. If you want to drive two monitors, you need to lok for docking station with dual video card.

you are unable to get an image on your ViewSonic monitor, first check that the necessary cables are attached correctly and that the proper drivers are installed. ViewSonic offers drivers for download directly through its website (see Resources).

Some LCD monitors use a VGA input while others take advantage of the newer DVI interface to provide a connection to PCs (some ViewSonic monitors offer both types). When connecting your monitor for the first time, you'll need the right type of cable for both your monitor and computer. In some cases an adapter may be necessary to convert the DVI signal from your monitor to work in a VGA input on your PC.

Check that the VGA or DVI cable is tightly attached to the back of your monitor and to the back of your PC. Use the small thumb screws on the ends of the connectors to keep everything tightened in place, which will prevent the cable from getting loose.

ViewSonic monitors also use a power cable to plug into a power source. If the power light does not comes on, check that the power cable is inserted fully into the back of the monitor and that it is plugged into a working wall outlet or a reliable surge protector.

Monitor says No signal digital

Is ether the monitor or video card uses both DVI or VGA port. There may be a switch on the graphic card that changes it from DVI to VGA, often outside the card.

Also is the computer monitor set to the right setting if it can use both VGA and DVI, if using DVI (of any type) it need to switch to digital, and if using VGA it need to be set to analog. This may be a physical switch or using the settings button. (see manual how to change them)

PS: VGA port is a blue D shaped port with 15 pin holes, and DVI is a white rectangle port with one port being a line.

I had the same problem, you must call Viewsonic to change your screen. The DVI input on the screen is dead.
