The light on my indiglo timex has gone out, how can I get it fixed? New battery or what? Thanks

I have 3 timex expedition watches that worked fine, until I changed the battery. Now they don't work at all! Timex, "takes a lickin' and keeps o tickin'", until you change the battery.

I changed the battery and now the watch works fine but the light does not work when I press the "Indigo" button.

My light does not work on Timex Expidition watch. How do I fix it?

  • Anonymous Mar 30, 2009

I replaced the dead battery in my Timex Expedition Indiglo with the required 2016 battery (major brand), and watch works fine for all functions except light does not come on when pressing Indiglo button. I have removed watch works from body and checked all contacts, and placed small screwdriver across light switch contacts, but light still doesn't come on.

Check to make sure the button is making contact with the circuit board. It may need to be adjusted. Try and manually make contact with the copper contact. If it lights, then just adjust the tab.

The light in my watch stopped working. How do I get it fixed? It is a Timex Indiglo(ladies) I don't have any other info.

Most watches of this type have 2 batteries - 1 for the light and 1 for timekeeping. If you use the light a lot, you may have flattened the battery but the watch keeps going because it's running on the other battery. Take it to your local jewellers/watchmakers/watch repair shop and get them to test the battery and replace if flat. If the battery isn't flat and the light doesn't work then you have a faulty watch - if it's still under guarantee fine, if not buy yourself another watch if you can't put up with the fault.

The light was fading on my Indiglo Timex watch but it was still keeping good time, so I had a new battery installed by a Walmart employee. The light now works on the watch but the watch stopped keeping...

mcdevito75 here, Your Timex watch is most likely an Indiglo meaning light, The battery supplies power to to Quatz mechanism for time keeping and for the light. There is a very good possibility that 1 or 2 of the contacts between the battery and the Quatrz mechanism were lost during the new battery installation. While you can"t rule out that the Quartz mechanism and or the light may be wearing down, you still have to suspect the battery even a new battery, look for a small watch repair shop in your area and try another battery, let the jewler know of your watches problem so he / she can properly install the battery and ensure the contacts between the Quartz and the battery are being made.

My watch has stopped keeping time but i can still hear it clicking. The indiglo still works as well so its not the battery. i will change the time and it will work again untill about 30 seconds to 1 minute...

Quartz watches do get gummy or dirty gears and slow down or just quit. I know that I have the cleaning chemicals that generally works to unstick the gears, but I also have the equipment that pulses the watch with enough power to get the mechanism working again. If that doesn't work then it's time to replace the movement with a new one. This is generally cheaper than spending lots of money on the labor to get the old movement working again. Best of luck on this one.

After about two years, my indiglo night light function stopped working. The watch is still working, keeping time. Will changing the battery fix the indiglo problem?

Definitely, battery change will solve the Indiglo light problem. Many of wristwatches has separate battery for Indiglo function, but my advise is to change them both at once - will be cheaper for you.

Timex T49271 Expedition Indiglo button dead?

There is no separate battery for the indiglo, maybe indiglo circuit is lose or defected already, just open the watch and check for lose connection. If happen the circuit is tight and still not working then replace the indiglo circuit.

Hope it may helps you;

Timex indiglo. Indiglo feature died.

The indiglo technology is time limited (it dims over the years with use) and cannot be repaired - have you had the watch a long time? if so, I'm afraid it's time to get a new one. Sorry!

Remove the battery and check the contacts at the bottom of the cavity to be sure they haven't gotten mashed flat. The cell should seat firmly in the cavity, not just rest in it. Be sure the back is seated firmly.
