My LG VX8300 shuts itself off at least once a day. The phone is usually sitting quietly on my desk. When I notice that the phone hasn't rang in a while, often the cause is the phone has shut off. Are there any solutions for this, or is the phone defective? I just got it in February,
I have had this phone for about 1 year. This is my second one. I have had this same problem on both phones. It is getting much worse now. The last time I complained, the company had no clue how to fix it. Mine shuts off about every 20 min now. Do not wait to get a new phone. Changing the battery only works for a little while. I am getting my 3rd phone today.
I have had this phone for a year now. It shuts off on an average of 3 times per week. Sometimes it shuts off 3 times a day. I have not figured out the problem. Mine is a company phone so there are many of us with the same phone. All of us have the issue.
I just had the same problem, I have the same model phone and a few weeks ago changed out the battery with one I had stored away from my old phone. Thats when it started happening. Try a new battery before you get a new phone. Hope it works.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones). click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Good luck!

This thing haunted me for year. Even though I moved on to 3 or 4 new phones since I had my VX8300. I still have it because a spare phone comes in handy, especially when you have a TEEN!!! lol. It is the easiest fix EVER. Ok, first access the phones hidden menu:Dial ##program8300 and hit send, Now, hit 6 or HARDWARE TEST, next hit 5 or BYPASS BOOTING and last, hit 2 or BATTERY FAKE MODE and set that to ON. The phone may reboot itself, i forget or you may have to do it yourself. Upon reboot, you'll be GOLDEN!!! Take care and good luck.
how old is the phone and more specifically, the battery? rechargeable batteries, unfortunately, do not last forever. i used to have a phone that didn't need charging for days. over time (a few years), i had to charge every night.
will it turn on while plugged in? if so, then it's probably the battery.
I have a definite solution for the LG VX8300 lid-flip random power-down problem.
Mine was doing the same thing - I'd pull it out of my pocket or off the desk or whatever after hours of silence, only to see it's completely off; I'd have it shut down instantly when I'd close the lid.
The problem is related to loose screws in the keypad half of the case. Take off the battery compartment lid and remove the battery, being careful of screws that may fall out and run off to the most physically-inaccessible corner of the universe (you know what I mean, the Murphy hardware-wormhole thing.) There are four screws that hold the back of that case half to the front. Get one of those eyeglass repair kits from the local Rite-Aid, Wal-Mart, whatever, and tighten the screws 'til they're snug (don't overdo it and strip/crack the threads.) If screws are missing, try the eyeglass ones. The ones in the repair kit I got were the exact same thread size, but were a little long - YMMV. I just cut the screw shorter with a wire snipper and it worked perfectly.
I did that fix a couple weeks ago and the power-down problem, which had been a several-times-a-day thing, has not happened once since.
I had the same problem on 2 phones. I cleaned the contacts on the battery with 600 grit wet/dry (black) sandpaper (dry). No problems in the last 5 days. Alcohol probably would have worked just as well. Good Luck.
Yes. on the side of the phone there's a voice command button .. with a twist ... it'll respond to voice command but it'll also respond to the directional buttons and sometimes .. the volume buttons work as directional buttons as well.
