Question about HP PSC 950 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Open Question

HP2110 all-in-one. Cannot escape out of the align cartridges.

After installing the new blk. cartridge and hitting enter, the printer prints out the instruction sheet and then prints the pattern page.as usual. I then put pattern sheet in scanner as directed and press enter when prompted. It just continually tells me it is aligning over and over and over. If I hit cancel it keeps telling me over and over than the Pen Alignment is being cancelled but it never cancels. I uninstalled the program and re-installed it but to no avail.

I have never had a problem with this printer before. Can you help?

Thank You

SOURCE: align cartridges

Cerfer39-YOU ROCK!

I was ready to go buy another printer and found your solution. Worked BEAUTIFULLY!

THANKS A MILLION for saving me the cost of a new printer!

*Tip-I always mark the date on the side of the ink cartridge(s) when installing them so I know how long it takes to use them up.
My black ink cartridge installed it in March 07'. It said it was 50% full, but I could hardly read the font. I guess they dry up if you don't use them within a year.

SOURCE: alignment cartridge

Here's the deal with the cartridge alignment page....the machine will spit out a series of black lines mixed with yellow ink and at the beginning of each of these lines is a "Green" check mark. The carriage moves back and forth over these lines and green check marks and reads them by use of what is called a "spot sensor" that resides on the right side of the carriage assembly. This is usually noticed by the blue ray of light that shines out of it. So if you are getting an alignment failure one of two things is happening....1)You've have got a bad cartridge (usually the color) and it is not laying down the right colors, specifically the green check mark or 2)You've got a bad spot sensor...even though it may still be shining the blue light, the sensor board can't process the information. Its an easy fix either way.

  1. On your computer, go to "Start," "Programs," "Lexmark Series." Click "Lexmark Control Program."
  2. Step 2 Select the "Cartridges" tab. Click "Change Cartridges." The Change Cartridges screen appears, displaying the animated instructions for installing or changing cartridges. When you have finished viewing the animation, click the "Finished" button.
  3. Step 3 Remove the tape covering the print head of the new print cartridge. Insert the new print cartridge as shown in the animation.
  4. Step 4 When the "Choose Cartridges" screen appears, select the cartridge(s) you installed in your printer from the list boxes. Click the appropriate box to reset the ink levels to full. Click "OK."
  5. Step 5 The Automatic Alignment screen appears. Click "Align" to align the print cartridges for best print quality. The printer prints a page with a bi-directional alignment pattern. On the printed test page, locate the number that comes closest to forming a straight line under the bi-directional alignment pattern. Enter that number as the bi-directional alignment setting in the Alignment Cartridge dialog box. Click "OK."

Printer keeps showing : Press enter to align cartridges. After doing this it then prints out an alignment page and shows: Alignment failed please: Press enter Alignment failed. This goes on and on. I have...

I have found that if I put in an old aligned page the printer reads it as and the alignment is accepted. As for the cancelled message being in the window, I have had this problem too. I've ignored it and selected the copy button and it took the command. The only problem with hitting cancel is that you cannot turn off your printer. Every time you do you have to repeat the aligning and cancellation process.

Cartridge alignment

Put a teeny tiny bit of oil (3 in one on fingertip) all over the slide (chrome bar that you see looking into the printer from the front) and retry. Just a thin film, NOT enough to drip.

The self test and align 'scan and print' procedure is timing out.

Align page message

I have an OfficeJet 5780 and I have to do the alignment also. The allignment page it prints should have instructions on it. Just put it in the scanner and press "Enter". It needs to scan it to align the print heads.

This is from the manual on their website:

The HP Officejet prompts you to align cartridges every time you install or
replace a print cartridge. Aligning the cartridges ensures high-quality output.
To align the print cartridges when prompted:
1 Press Enter on the front panel.
An align cartridges (test pattern) page prints.
2 Load the align cartridges page face down in the ADF between the paperwidth
guides and press the Enter button again.
3 Recycle or discard the page.

Alignment after new cartridge

Hi I think that you will need to clean the gold dots on the printer carriage or if not done so remove the blue tape from the cartridge or if you are trying to use refills install some originals as this may help.

Hope this helps'
